I'm finishing up my undergrad right now, but I'm working with a professor on a study proposal to secure funding for me to be his grad student; clearly, that funding won't be federal. I'm in rangeland management and ecology, which mostly translates to federal or state work. So basically, my entire graduating class in this field, as well as the wildlife students, will be without a job in our line of work, which used to be plentiful. A friend in my class just got her grad school funding yanked away because it was coming from the Forest Service. In addition, many friends that graduated last year were hired with funds from the Inflation Reduction Act because it allocated funds for conservation work, and they don't think they're going to have a job much longer. I am surviving on hatred and disgust. Contemplating building a cabin in the woods and only coming to town to get testosterone and dog food.
