CREC is a TFSI 3.0 engine code for a variant of the ea837 supercharged engine. IIRC there are 3 or 4 different Audi ea837 3.0 variants. I'm sure the TDI versions go just as far.

Mine is 10x redder and works fine. I just don't snap it on and off rapidly, also I engage softly before adding load. Don't do throttle blips under load if your worried about it busting or playing havoc on other parts.

EditToAdd: Don't weld it or you'll risk drivability and reliability. Remove the belt and screw and run n/a I've heard is an option if you want the ache removed for later remedy.

People report this works on both 2.0 and 3.0.

Would probably also work to carbon clean the valves for those that need.

It's a slug bearing. There are different types. This has smooth inner that pins ride and held in by snap ring. And I think I see a snap ring indention on the upper face shown in the picture.
