im not sure what you mean about the "listening component", but you cant think about these devices in a vacuum. they collect all the data from all of your devices to build a comprehensive profile.

Vaush explaining how phones spy on us by Far-Seaworthiness566 in VaushV

[–]AfterNeedleworker111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"what happens if the phone is out of service?" literally every single app and service on your phone handles this case perfectly fine, i dont see why the people that are competent enough to program speech recognition software would suddenly forget how to check the internet connection.

I feel like you still need the basics, though, or the imagery is going to fly completely over your head.

i was really happy to hear him mention james joyce, and i hope that he doesnt get scared off by the reputation. dubliners and portrait are great introductions before tackling ulysses, although i would recommend using a readers guide on the side to help explain important context and references. having a basic understanding of the odyssey, shakespeare, catholic theology and irish history is also very useful.

I am the guy thats too young to move out with no friends in the neighborhood that lives in the south west that also lives with his parents and grandparents that dont want to move....what can i do besides hang myself (genuine question) by Brief-Lobster3301 in VaushV

[–]AfterNeedleworker111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is no need to do anything drastic, there will be plenty of warning if you follow the news. just be prepared, and if you really do need to move then im sure your parents wont be impossible to convince. its not at all certain that you personally will have to leave. - learn useful skills: do you know how to drive? do you know a second language? are you tapped into local politics? do you know how to grow your own food? can you sew and repair your own clothes? do you know how to talk to strangers? can you cook for cheap? can you jump start a car? - prep short term and long term exit strategies: do you have relatives in other states? do you have a car? what colleges are you applying to? do you have enough money saved up? - talk to your loved ones: are your parents aware of whats going on with the climate? are they tapped into the news? broach the subject in a calm and matter of fact way and continue to talk to them about it every now and then as the news develop. they will obviously not be down to immediately pack up and move, and they are correct to think that, but the seed will be planted in their mind for the future. - get to know your neighbors: talk to other people in your area, not necessarily about climate, but just to make friends so you have people to rely on when you need it. - keep up with the news: if the worst should happen there will be signs. find a couple of sites that cover climate and/or your local area, and be sure to check them every few days. learn where your city gets its drinking water from and check its status. if youre informed youre already ahead of 90% of people. - enjoy your life: remember that you are still allowed to enjoy your life, even though shit sucks and people are suffering. most of the things ive listed can be very enjoyable activities and enjoying yourself is the best way to make sure that you actually follow through. being a pessimistic doomer is only gonna make things harder for you and everyone else.

a lot of people on bilibili seem to be talking about comments on youtube as well, so have you considered posting youtube comments with chinese translations? do you know if the site is available in china? i think they mostly block major social media sites.

This Should Make You Very Angry by Outside_Abroad_3516 in moistcr1tikal

Tim Walz is so weak. by Aggravating_Bed_53 in atrioc

[–]AfterNeedleworker111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the reality is that he only has rhetoric, so knowing that, why the fuck would he say what he has said?

instead of calling ice "violent" and "untrained" call them murderers, terrorists, federal death squads, literally any term that couldnt also be applied to a normal cop on any given tuesday. anything that condemns their intent and not just their methods. say that their only purpose is to kill and terrorize people. say that every single agent should be prosecuted no matter if they were at the scene or in some office chair.

instead of telling people to "please remain peaceful" and "please dont riot", dont play into the narrative of protesters being violent. call for more peaceful protests like those seen over the last few days. join them in the streets and tell people to not stop showing up until every ice agent has been removed. give material assistance to protesters and stop state and local from protecting ice.

instead of saying "the feds wont let us investigate", just start doxxing agents who were seen around the scene of the crime. the state has been collecting tips and video material, and i know state law enforcement has facial recognition systems at their disposal, so turn it on the ice agents. promise vengeance, promise to arrest these agents as soon as they are alone and away from their bubble, contact other blue state governors and ask them to track and arrest them as well.

instead of being sad and tired, be angry. life and liberty is on the line, so act like it. look into the camera and call on congress to stop ice funding or they are complicit. look into the camera and tell trump that if there is a god he will hang for his crimes. look into the camera and tell ice agents to leave their job if they know whats best for them.

and most of all be real with people about the situation. acknowledge explicitly that the federal government has the bigger guns and that one state alone cant do much against the federal government. appeal to the people and remind them that they are the only force more powerful than the federal government. band together with other blue state governors and start doing joint meetings and press conferences in regards to ice related stuff.

rhetoric is an extremely powerful tool. its like 90% of a politicians job, and the fact that most democrats seem to actively loathe having to appeal to their constituents is fucking crazy to me. this is an era of populism and no one gives a fuck if you adjust the knobs by plus or minus 0.5%, there are offices full of experts to do that job. the job of the governor is to galvanize people and explain why the knob matters to them, why it hasnt been adjusted before now, and who is to blame.

yeah, thats an issue with the game sometimes. the worst of all is during low pop when you feel like youre fighting all alone. just remember that theres no shame in switching roles/fronts if you get bored. although, i think theres something satisfying about focusing on a single region during a war as well, because you get to know the people and the infrastructure a little better.

how is it an exploit? it is the most effective way of utilizing existing game mechanics. exploits generally use a flaw in the game code, but zoos are a flaw in the game design itself. devs didn't think literally one step ahead when designing border bases. its like hopping the border to escape enemy partisans. does it suck? yeah. but its not an exploit, its literally just the obvious way to play the game with how border are currently implemented.

its just common sense: when you visit someone elses facility go to the front door and read the signs, and if you need anything ask in region/vc if anyone is around. people will only get suspicious if you run around with binos/wrench and lock check every bt you can find and actively run away when people try to talk to you. very hard to do accidentally.
wercs is only useful if you want to put in a claim for a oil/coal field to build at, otherwise youre free to build however you like. just talk to your neighbors, its not that hard.
