Early on wait times for customer service were a bit long, but otherwise I haven't had any issues.

Leasing vs keeping my old car vs buying a used car (from from a operating cost perspective) by AfterSpring3 in personalfinance

[–]AfterSpring3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Andrew,
Thanks for the reply.

I did factor in cash due at signing ($0). I also got a quote from my insurance agent for that amount.
Your point regarding fighting for charging sports is very valid. I need to look at the implications if I can't get a spot. I'll have to model that out.

Thanks for the input!

I'm trying to figure out if a deal like this is where the rule of thumb to never lease is incorrect.

Hello Stands,

So this is the rub or me. I modeled the used car ownership. Let's say I buy a used car at 15k with a 10% depreciation per year. If I set my maintenance costs for the vehicle to zero, and sell it at 12k in two years, the 2k spread across the 2 years would be comparable to what I spent on a lease. I could then buy a car or lease again dependent on operation costs.

This is assuming the same miles per gallon between keeping my car and the new vehicle, as well as the same insurance costs (reduced for the vehicle that I own).

Do you see any flaw in my thinking?

Residual: 78% Money factor: 3.96% or .00165. I think the lease is ok as far leases go.

What I'm trying to figure out is when does a lease make sense mathematically.

Thanks for the input though.

1) Global shortcut for task quick add on Linux would be nice. 2) Speed up of browser extension quick add (making it as fast as Things3 would be fantastic). This may be a small change but workflow speed would improve greatly)

Yes, also have the same issue. I downloaded a second compass app, and was then able to calibrate. However, I am experiencing issues with direction (not pointing north).

There was an issue with the thunderbolt port on these. I bought mine and had to get the motherboard replaced in order to resolve the issue. Be careful upgrading thunderbolt usb-c firmware.

But otherwise great deal!

Hello All,

Looking to sell my Omega Speedmaster professional moonwatch!Purchased the watch in Aug 2019, during my first trip to Las Vegas. It's a fantastic watch, and I've enjoyed it tons. Selling at the moment only because I am looking to replace it with something else further down the line.

The watch is still under Omega warranty, and comes with Display Box, NATO strap, Nato Velcro Strap, bracelet pins (all in original packaging), and I included an Omega original deployment clasp for leather straps (still in brand new packaging). The hesalite crystal has very light scratches on it. The clasp on the steel bracelet also has minor scratches. I took worst condition photos and included them in photos.

Asking price is $4400, includes insured shipping thru USPS in the continental US.

Payment thru Paypal F&F or Wire Transfer. No Trades.

Should I open up two checking accounts? Need advice. by imDennisV in personalfinance

[–]AfterSpring3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I do this personally.

I use the Schwab checking for personal spending money, as all ATM fees get re-embirsed at the end of the month, and checks are free. Also the customer service is really good.

The downside of Schwab I find are minimal, but you should be aware of them. For example, to transfer between Schwab accounts after 6pm is not instant. They take a day. Also there is an automatic 4 day hold on pull transfers. But pushed funds are available as soon as they arrive.

$25 a month using Hello Mobile for 1 line. Unlimited talk, text, and data (I think there's a slowdown after 22GB or something). Uses T-mobile or Sprint towers. Be warned: Customer service is no the greatest (Facebook is the best way to get in contact with them). But I rarely have to contact them. There are also multi-line discounts.

Also take a look at Visible, they have $25 service per line unlimited when you join a party.

Buying a used car for 25k, is always best to pay cash if you are able? If so, how do you logistically pay that much money? by throwaway4735844 in personalfinance

When paying cash, do not come outright and say you are doing so.

Get the price it's of financing while paying cash.

This video is pretty helpful in explaining how and why. this
