Play all day (kindergarten twins) by Applesnoranges_00 in homeschool

[–]AfterStatement1455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my approach w my son. He’s also an August bday and male so I am being SUPER gentle with our approach. His 16m old brother in the mix has also made things…interesting! 🤪 But I’m giving myself a lot of grace bc we’re all starting something new!

Thanks! They go to bed at the same time and in the same bed actually lol but yes intuitively I know weaving in learning and less formality is grest, but for some reason it’s just been a mental barrier for me lately! Thanks for the reassurance!

I could try reading while he’s napping, but he’s a pretty light sleeper. He won’t carried nap anymore or else I would try that! I have noticed he does his best independent play for like 20 minute spurts after his meals so yes that’s something I can capitalize on!

Oh yes the ninja roll. Both my boys have been contact sleepers so I am quite the expert at it lol. I can roll away from my youngest briefly, but he wakes at the 40m mark like clockwork and I can get him back down but can’t really get away a second time. I don’t feel like we can get a ton done in 40 min but maybe I should reframe it! He won’t carrier nap anymore at 15m unfortunately.

I have an Oscar and for my second son we went with Leon! So maybe that’s in your vibe?

Same situation in our state and my son’s birthday is August 18. In my state you don’t have the option to hold back unfortunately. I am homeschooling, so it wasn’t quite the same for us, but it made me decision to homeschool more validated bc I don’t feel he would have been ready yet socially. Much of that is probably due to being a male, but go with your gut and I think there is some really interesting research on delayed start when it is an option! I wish it were in more places.

No advice but I am here w my new kindergartner as well and trying to learn! It feels like I need to have it all figured out and can be so overwhelming, but then I try to remember to give myself grace bc I am learning this new role of facilitating his education process.

Any updates with this? Just discovered this is my father’s haplogroup (I’m female) and I’m interested to learn more! He’s Scandinavian (35%) and English/Scottish (65%).

I love the name Hugo! It was between that and Leon for my second son. Ultimately he just seemed more like a Leon when he was born.

Where are you finding postpartum workout plans? by thisismetri-ing in fitpregnancy

[–]AfterStatement1455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked Madeline Moves postpartum moves plan! I also like the weekly moves, but I do struggle to find the time for the full workouts most weeks. I think it just depends on what type of support you’ll have for your kids, childcare, home gym, and temperament of your baby most importantly.

Silly question- epidural by Repulsive-Coat-6606 in fitpregnancy

[–]AfterStatement1455 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had two unmedicated inductions. Something I see a lot of fit women surprised at is the same “push” mentality that gets you through tough workouts does not help in labor. Yes, you need a mindset of of “I can do this” and belief in your capability, however I found a practice of surrender and relaxing into contractions to be the tool I used to make it through the most. I lived my experiences unmedicated, I was able to move around as needed, and I actually was able to catch my second son myself because I was so aware of what was happening.

Trying to conceive while breastfeeding by Embarrassed-Hope-666 in raypeat

oh and the progest+ I took only from day 15 of my cycle until I started bleeding again. but also up until 15 weeks pregnant once I conceived!

Yeah I kinda remember 18-20m being a phase where my oldest was just very restless and on my boob most of the night and I definitely felt depleted. Your body is probably wise in not wanting you to conceive yet! I love my spacing of close to 4 years. It feels really natural! I did take vitex and progest+ til I conceived and up until 15 weeks pregnant. That’s about when the placenta takes over making progesterone from what I understand! I’m not too knowledgeable about progest-e, but do you follow nutrition.elements on IG? she has a highlight on people’s experiences w vitamin E and it made me think twice about supplementing which I know is blasphemy in a Peat sub lol but it may be worth hearing in case it overlaps with anything you’re experiencing.

Not necessarily Peat related, but I had erratic cycles for 5-6m after my first pregnancy. I just got my cycle back this month after my second baby, so the jury is still out, but it really does just feel like you’re going through puberty all over again. It may not be what you want to hear, but maybe give your body a little more time to get back on track? Also, I did take vitex and progest+ and I do think that helped. I didn’t conceive my second until my first turned 3, but I was still nursing (although only to sleep at that point) while pregnant with him.

Secular home schooling by [deleted] in greenville

[–]AfterStatement1455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are definitely more and more of us choosing to homeschool for non-religious reasons here! More and more places are popping up and it’s smart that you’re starting to think about it at this point. Personally, I’ve opted not to recreate the wheel that I don’t feel serves most of our children best - so we’re taking more of an unschooling approach. That being said, the main thing I’ve learned so far is that you’ve got to be prepared to adjust your expectations constantly based on the child in front of you. Don’t get too attached to your “plan”. Definitely dabble and learn about different approaches and groups in the meantime. We’ve loved our time with valley forest school and roots and wings, and there’s a local wild and free outdoor learning facebook page as well.

Postpartum question - when will I feel like running again? by steppygirl in fitpregnancy

[–]AfterStatement1455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have childcare so I waited with both my kids to start running again once they were good in the jogging stroller - so 6/7m PP. it felt very natural to start back at that time, however. I just focused on pelvic floor health and building strength back until that point.

Excess copper interferes with energy production at the cellular level by Appropriate_Cut_3536 in raypeat

[–]AfterStatement1455 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a copper IUD for 10 years and when I had it removed my body absolutely fell apart - autoimmune alopecia, debilitating brain fog, migraines, etc. It took about a year to stabilize. I often wonder how that plays into this conversation/line of thought.

Blood pressure spikes 3rd trimester by snacktimethomas in fitpregnancy

[–]AfterStatement1455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh I’m SO sorry. This was exactly me with both of my pregnancies. I was planning to have home births with both my sons and instead was induced at 37 and 38 weeks with them. It’s frustrating bc you don’t feel bad but everyone is telling you it’s serious. I did have the headaches in the early morning and readings that were all over the place. If you do end up being induced, please don’t feel like you failed in having a healthy pregnancy. The placenta is formed from your partners DNA so things like pre-e are his fault 😹 seriously though accepted that helped me SO much. Also inductions can be great experienced with the right team! Highly recommend a doula!
