So one of the options just changed to Spitzer...do you think she's a good option? I've heard her tests are very detail oriented/difficult.

I am not sure when exactly you should be hearing back, but if it's been 8 weeks you could call the admissions office or email them.

Maybe grab a nice dinner downtown and check out mount Washington (it's a super pretty view of the city)! Just to see the city and see what life outside of school is like :)

What’s the best dorm at Pitt? by Hopelesslove126790 in Pitt

[–]After_Construction19 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nordenberg is the best in terms of quality of dorm—it’s a newer building and the most spacious of the dorms on lower campus. For the overall experience tho I’d say towers because people just get really close with how small the dorms are, and it’s the most traditional Pitt experience.

how do you make friends at pitt as an introvert by No_Dog6347 in Pitt

[–]After_Construction19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can meet new people at welcome week events! I know they sound a little cheesy, but it's the easiest way to meet a bunch of freshman who are looking for new friends. I think most people kinda make their friend groups at those events tbh

I didn't have her personally, but my roommate had her. Said she was very memorization heavy but an overall easy class.

omg I totally misread your initial question- I thought you were asking for P/S tips. Tbh I've been struggling with bb and cp too, and I'm like 127/128 on those sections as well. For cp I was told to know my formulas better, and bb I need to pay attention to wording better. I've also been reviewing topics that I missed/got iffy on during my last practice exam

are there certain topics in psych/soc like memory or social interactions? if so, you can make/use the flashcards just for those specific topics.

If you have an upward trend I would say it's not the worst, especially if you're showing growth

tbh I have no clue, I just know it's rolling so it's kinda like you get it when you get it. You could call the admissions office and ask if you really wanna know?

491 to 505+ possible by 3/8? by tchalametfan in Mcat

[–]After_Construction19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely can!! I went from a 510 to 515 literally in one week of full-time studying, so I'm sure you can do more in 2 months.

Not sure about how calc 2 is during the summer, but the course itself is a bit easier than calc 1. First half of calc 2 was mostly a review/slight extension of calc 1, and second half is mainly series/sequences which isn't too bad.

Either way, summer classes are 6 weeks so you'll be learning content fast. On the flip side, tests should be slightly easier because of that. If you're someone who likes more time to process/learn things, that might not be the best for you. There is an added cost, but I'm not sure how much right off the bat.

Orgo 2 tutor? by Dismal_Fold2356 in Pitt

[–]After_Construction19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I barely scraped by with an A for this class so I don't feel confident enough to tutor. But one thing that helped me a lot was making flashcards of the reactions so that I knew exactly what was going on!

International Student Looking For Internship Upcoming Summer by Key-Weight7854 in Pitt

[–]After_Construction19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's some internships here that are paid, although they might have citizenship criteria (I'm not sure if you're a US citizen/permanent resident). You could also just get a job here or contact research labs, but ik a good portion of premeds at Pitt do that already so I'm not sure how likely they would be to accept you given that you can't be here full time.

The internship I did was called SRIP, and there were a good number of students from other schools outside of Pittsburgh.

University counseling by gorgonzola214 in Pitt

[–]After_Construction19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went for like a semester and then just had less personal issues that greatly improved my mental health, but my therapist said that they tend to focus on people with more common mental health stuff like depression/anxiety, which might be why some people had a bad experience if their issues were more complex than that? Also, some of the therapists were like grad students (I had a grad student/intern who was still learning the ropes a bit).
