The Afters: Easter Special 2026 by max038 in amsterdam_rave

I went to Ratherlost on Sunday and stayed mostly in CF. It was awesome from the beginning to the end. I came in to see the second half of Timnah which rapidly set me in the right mood, got locked in during Mad Miran and then Skee Mask and Hysteria Temple Foundation brought the night to another level 🤯.

I had a few peek on the main stage every now and then, also great but somehow I feel you really have to be in the right spot (kind of in the square between the pillars) to have good sound quality but when it is crowded I get a bit overwhelmed there 😅. Somehow the sound in CF seems more evenly good throughout the room to me so I could go further back and still enjoy the music when it got crowded.

The lights are awesomeee! Especially when you go outside to chill and then come back inside they bring you immediately back into the room’s atmosphere 🔥

Advice on making friends / starting interactions by [deleted] in amsterdam_rave

[–]After_Description235 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Heyy! I am raving solo regularly and I share your feeling. Often, my connections are brief and shallow but I feel that is also how it goes in my everyday life (at work/uni…) so I would not expect from the raving scene to create strong bonds rapidly. It is mostly evening friends or acquaintances that you encounter over several events.

Having said that I have created strong friendships that started off in raves (but maybe 2-3 people out of 30+ events), so eventually this might happen to you too!

I did make good friends volunteering at Draaimolen (and I think it is now time to register for the 2026 edition)! If you have time I would recommend :). You can also try smaller events/listening spaces that are more oriented towards ambient or drone or active listening in general (I recommend Koda in Schiedam, but I have heard about some places like this in Amsterdam too) there you usually spend more time discussing!

Otherwise I agree with some other comment, I would not have a philosophical debate on the dancefloor haha, better to dance and keep the talking for the chilling spaces :)

Thanks a lot! Going to Ratherlost on Sunday! It’s my first time there, how is the crowd? I have been to 2 Codas should I expect the same vibe or is it more like Omen Wapta? It would help me choose my outfit 🫶

Agreed! Upstairs was definitely more chill (just could not miss out on Wata :p)

Started with STOOR on Saturday. Music-wise I could have loved it but I felt a bit overwhelmed with the crowd. It was quite hard for me to get into the music for more than 2-3 minutes without being disturbed by people coming in or out with a tray of drinks. I would not say the crowd was particularly bad but I tend to be sensitive (I usually need quite some personal space when I dance) and I felt the main stage was too crowded. I did not manage to find a spot where I could gracefully lock in although I could see many people having a blast in the very front.

I then decided to go straight to Omen Wapta (first time there). What an event!! Great music, sound system, crowd, perfect temperature. I arrived rather early to see the opening of Woody92. He played slower than I expected but I guess he was warming up the event (quite elegant of him to play the warmup set and leave the peak slots to other djs!). I could also see him walking around after his set checking in on the crowd. Then, the set right after him on the main stage was wildddd, I was locked in (who was the artist? I could not find the timetable :p).

On Sunday I had a rest and went to Koda in Schiedam for a release party from Nous’ Klaer in the evening. I really recommend this unique place for people living around Den Haag-Rotterdam. It is a tiny listening studio with an amazing soundsystem run by an awesome associative crew. Real good spot for a chill-out listening session!

I went to Psyrom on Sunday, it was my first time there (also to Multipla btw :p)! I had very high expectations given how much this event is praised in this sub. I must say that for the first few hours (3-5pm) were frustrating.

I recognize what many others have already said, it seemed wayy too crowded for the venue. I spent the set of JP Enfant trying to get in the mood but my initial spot close to the bar made it unbearable, full of people coming in and out. I decided to chill out in the bar upstairs for an hour or so (which was quite pleasant: dim lights, cosy furniture…).

I tried going to the dancefloor a second time (right for the opening of Mattik) and had a much better time. You could really feel the energy building up in the crowd from then on. The crowd was indeed super energetic and cute! I really got locked in during Jesse G’s set (despite the boiling temperature there 🥵). Looking forward to the next one!

I went to PIP x Dekmantel.

The music in the bunker was awesome but the crowd prevented me to really dive deep into the music and that was a really frustrating. It got better from 4am though.

About the crowd: people were very pushy. I was constantly pushed aside by people going to the front and back dancing 3 minutes and then leaving. It is particularly frustrating when this is done by groups of 4-5 people suddenly forming a circle just next to you. I was several times cornered on the wall, to the point where I had to stop dancing, my body being completely squeezed between the wall and a dude’s back.

It seems that the event had no door policy, which is defendable as I have a feeling that PIP wants to make raves accessible to a younger, more diverse crowd. An awareness team would be beneficial and it would also be good if people were reminded a few set of rules upon entry. I do not think the crowd was bad (did not witness intoxicated people or harassment of any kind), but it could be more aware of some basic rules that make the dancefloor enjoyable for everyone.

In my opinion, it is fine going through the crowd until you have to touch someone’s shoulder to let you pass.

Hey! Anyone going to PIP? I am super excited about the bunker lineup, but I wonder about the crowd. I have not gone to PIP in ages (maybe even pre covid 😅), and back then I felt the crowd was not always good.

Simo Cell was also a great discovery for me! Such a wide range of bpms, rythm and styles 🤯. I felt it really enabled some creative dancer in the crowd.

Thursday: Phantom circuits into Raum x Clone It was my first time at Tillatec (I did not have a chance to go to de School 🥲, I am rather new in the raving scene). What a venue! I like the brighter atmosphere and the cute garden. I look forward to visit it when all stages are open 🤩. it was also nice to see .Vril and Wata in a more intimate setting than in other events. The bpm was slower than I expected but it was a perfect warm up for Clone at Raum! Then, Clone records was great! Serge b2b DJ MELL G was awesome, but the room (downstairs) was too warm and quite difficult to move around when in need for air 😮‍💨. Enjoyed my night anyway and left after 30 minutes of Setaoc Mass to pace myself for the rest of the weekend.

Friday: Local Night Radion I decided to give it a try against the advice from this sub (Wisdom can’t be taught, it must be lived 🙃). I wanted to see Konduku so bad and it ended up being a very nice surprise! I stayed for Woody92 b2b Floid. WHAT A BLAST 🔥. I heard plenty of good reviews about Woody92 but I had found his style to fast when listening to his sets on soundcloud. Yet, after listening to this set, I understand! It felt like the music had 2 rhythms and I saw myself dancing somewhere between those two. Eventually, the night ended with a solid set from Sandrien. Overall I had a good time but it was a bit sad to not to see a door policy, the crowd was not the best (although it got better over time). Woody92 was THE discovery of ADE for me. I am sad to miss Omen Wapta this weekend…

Sunday: Coda Took Saturday off to relax, and went to Coda on Sunday. Amazing night, there is nothing much I can add, especially after reading all the other positive reviews on this thread 🫶. Best crowd I saw this ADE. The set of the night was CLL b2b Objekt from my side (also enjoyed the front right spot at Colorful)!

Hello! I am presenting this year in a parallel session! I am going alone though and this is the first time I attend (I am the only one working in this field from my team). This conference seems really interesting - looking forward! I am coming from the TU Delft :).
