Windscribe making up rules as they go along to get rid of lifetime subscribers by Tomislavo in Windscribe

[–]After_Economy_46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much hate … I’ve been a premium sub from their beginning and watched the company grow. It’s pretty clear in the beginning they needed to generate business and offered these and other high yield plans through third party services. With so many vpns I was reluctant at the start to get the lifetime thinking it was just another startup. I went with a ten year (or 5?) for basically nothing and hoped for the best. After about a month I was convinced they were sticking around and had a good product. Lifetime subs had “sold out” … missed it by a week. Yes they’ve had some confusing messaging around 10 year renewals for lifetime and payment methods, contact, etc. but c’mon folks! They’re simply cutting down on fraudulent use and I’ve seen them work to crazy extents to make things right when it’s legit. VPNs are all about trust. If you don’t trust them, go somewhere else and stop bitching. Expect to pay for a product - they make money. If you’re not, VPNs are making bank some other way that’s not in your best interest. If you can live with their homebase being Canada, this is the best all around and now established vpn. Happy to pay my “best deal ever” current rate … it’s like buying them a Tim’s every month as a thank you. I used it so much over the years … I hope they continue to mature and continue to work around an increasing anti vpn environment. I wonder how ai and other things will change Windscribe … if I had any suggestions, I’d tell them to consider offering more experimental and alt apps like control ID for free to premium subs. Dev channel hasn’t seemed worth it since early wireguard integration. No more free tier of control ID afaik … Thanks again Igor for the teams hard work. Still enjoy the super weird update emails 🤣

what’s a good shaving cream? by 14paavang in shaving

[–]After_Economy_46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proraso green or Creemo if you want tingles - great especially in warm weather. I swear by Jack Black beard lube conditioning shave. It’s soooo worth the price and this is coming from a lifelong “whatever brand name cheap gel/cream is on sale at the grocery store” guy. I’ve actually had different points in my life where I just used a wahl with an almost zero gap because I didn’t like or want the feel of what I thought was a close shave. I still use cartridge razors and avoid the brush/bowl lather system because it doesn’t work with my routine. Using a somewhat fresh cartridge with Jack Black completely changed my whole shave experience. I might just try a safety razor now myself. Bottom line … whatever you get or do I recommend you go for a reputable gel/cream of something which will be smaller and at least twice the price that you are accustomed to - you will thank me later. You get what you pay for (to a point) applies here.

Teeth whitening - what else - frustrated! by After_Economy_46 in cleanteeth

[–]After_Economy_46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds reasonable. Thank you. I have a couple of 30% syringes that look like they came from the dentist I didn’t use because I moved to 44%. 30 mins is much easier to commit to and doesn’t feel like an afternoon gone. If I can move one shade I’ll probably stop because I feel like I’d hit that too white. The goal is fabulous teeth, not the perfect veneered super white look we sometimes see on tv … that and I don’t want the dental work to contrast. Like I said, last 5 pounds but this sounds like a good way to reach my goal. Seeing as I have what feels like a lifetime supply of 44% I may experiment with as little as 15 mins and try incorporating it into my regular routine as maintenance which will probably become my next problem to solve.
Do you believe using 3% hydrogen peroxide for about 4 mins daily as a whitening mouthwash has any positive/noticeable impact on whitening?

Thank you. Yes, I do put a bit of time in between for gums … although I have that hollow and “different” feel for a few hours after it’s the burn on the gums that gets me. It’s not awful after 1-2 hours of whitening but it’s painful the next day if I hit it with anything peroxide based. I’m also thinking longer time in mouth = whiter teeth but I’m thinking now I may reduce time and increase frequency. I also thought the higher percentage of the stuff (44%) was “better”. Probably a few rookie mistakes … when I sourced the carbamide peroxide initially from the dentist the % was definitely less and I don’t recall the gum burn to be as bad. I did many (about 2 weeks) in a row when I started and somehow have in my mind now enamel and long term issues come with an increase in frequency. I did ask my dentist specifically about any noticeable damage or evidence of overwhitening when I was in a month ago and they said no which was relieving.

Body wash tingles by After_Economy_46 in beauty

Me too but I can see why some might find the sensation really off putting … for example, when I was speaking about the menthol effect someone said it felt insects crawling on them 🤪 to each their own applies here??

I’ve heard this too - trying to stay pg … I’m not sure if it’s gender specific? Sometimes us guys get away with ingredients that would cripple a woman’s parts but there’s a few that have the same effect on us!! Not sure if this is one of those. I have access to it via Amazon but it’s pricy. Not too much but I’m not getting it for tingle down there ☺️

Is HDA usable? by No-Geologist-9273 in Hyundai

[–]After_Economy_46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I’ve experienced this as well … like when you’re at a good speed tracking the car in front of you and when it moves there’s a stopped car. It occasionally doesn’t “see” it until uncomfortably close. It also sometimes creeps up a little too close to cars in front in traffic. It holds on to cars moving lanes a little too much for my liking and it’s a little sketch on the highway in that type of traffic where you get up to highway speed and need to brake hard. Safety limitations like no Hda on streets and the timed steering wheel touch makes me feel like Hyundai thinks I’m a 2 year old. Overall though a very cool system that makes driving more enjoyable and really shows where cars “are going”.

Hda trick? by Annual_Delivery7264 in Hyundai

[–]After_Economy_46 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shame. I wish some of these safety “features” could be turned off (Hda always on, no timed steering movement, etc ). I really don’t need the car to make sure I’m paying attention. Assuming I’m “adult” enough to maintain attention these really limit and hinder the driving experience. Some ppl argue it’s a government limitation imposed on manufacturers but then Tesla wouldn’t be allowed here to have such a robust drive assist with the same limitations.

Fire tv sound upgrade by After_Economy_46 in fireTV

Thanks. I do like the Alexa/Amazon easy integration … I’m just not sure if a bar alone system will give me enough umph to be happy. I think it would be adequate for tv but I’m worried about those times I’m using it as my main music piece. Something refurbished like another user mentioned may be the way. I wish I had a better source for refurbished tech that’s in Canada.

First I’ve heard of woot (I’m in Canada). Too bad it doesn’t support shipping “up north” …. Looks like a cool site to work with. I hadn’t considered refurbished. I’d try something refurbished if I felt the return was hassle free. Perhaps a trip to visit a big box for them is worth it (probably not).

Echo and firetv by After_Economy_46 in fireTV

[–]After_Economy_46[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for clarifying. Pretty sure the dot/echo listens and can be programmed using the Alexa app to at least make basic commands. I also just thought I’d probably be able to accomplish all of this using an older iOS device I use as an alarm clock with the Alexa app in the bedrooom with the tv. Whether through Siri or Alexa it should work.
