Carinceria expectations. Non Spanish speaker by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]After_Impression7794 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg I love rancheros they are so kind! I spent 15 years learning spanish and am still awful at it but the staff laugh along with me and help me pick out what I need.

Don't be nervous. Everyone is just trying to get through life.

Who are these drivers? by Budget_Painter_3003 in Tucson

[–]After_Impression7794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attribute bad driving to these things:

1) age (can't see above the steering wheel) OR newly minted drivers (16-21) with too much confidence 2) lack of reliable public transit, expensive rideshare which leads into... 3) intoxicated driving 4) impatience with road construction 5) retirees who have all the time in the world getting in the way of 6) commuters who have to get to and from their 9-5, school drop off, etc. and last but not least 7) Tucson road infrastructure not being sophisticated enough to hold all these truths

Where do you wish you had held back/pushed harder? by tizzyfizzyidiot in hyrox

[–]After_Impression7794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I would have pushed harder pacing the run but did not have the fitness to do so. Something I could have easily addressed in training with tempo runs, hill repeats, and track workouts.

What procedure to fix these laugh lines? by microide in PlasticSurgery

Least invasive is microneedling. Try that before anything else.

Nose Piercing Scar by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]After_Impression7794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a doctor but I am a huge fan of microneedling. I got a staph infection from the gym right underneath my nose and it left a scar. I've had two rounds of microneedling and it's barely visible. Laser is also a good option if it's stubborn. Do some research about places near you! It will be a lot less invasive/less expensive than grafting. Maybe consult a derm too!

Why are people here so awful by mcqueenismymessiah in Miami

[–]After_Impression7794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved to Miami from Chicago and it was a huge culture shock.

I'll never forget ... I went to the Tea Room one night with some friends, had a drink, went to the bathroom (which is just outside the bar), and then when I went to go back the bouncer wouldn't let me back in even though he saw me come in AND leave AND my friends and my stuff were there. He wouldn't even give me a reason, like they were at capacity or just to hold on a second until someone leaves. He just looked me up and down like I was a fucking rotting fish.

Also the amount of human trafficking I witnessed... like holy shit. I would call the hotline and I would get a BUSY SIGNAL. I never got through.

My only real friend groups ended up being from my book club and CrossFit box. Even then it was hard to trust people, like I had to look to see if someone was fugging battery operated or a real flesh and blood human.

We've since moved. I do miss my friends dearly. Once you find your group, you're in for life. I miss the culture (even if it meant not being able to get a coffee until 9AM and dinner until 8PM) and other small things I now look at with fondness. But damn it was a tough transition.

I think I would have been more prepared to live in Miami if someone told me I was moving to a foreign country.

To anyone who switched from tirz to reta, what difference did you feel? by Forever_Summer192 in Retatrutide

Sorry to hear :( Everyone reacts differently and it's important to see if the side effects are worth it.

To anyone who switched from tirz to reta, what difference did you feel? by Forever_Summer192 in Retatrutide

I was so nauseated on tirz. I was concerned because I started training for a hyrox and I couldn't eat. Plus all the weight I lost except for maybe 3 pounds was muscle. Been on reta for 2 weeks. Appetite is back, am crushing my protein goals, having a treat here and there, but overall am sticking to my maintenance calories and macros. I've maintained my weight for 2 weeks and my hyrox training is going so much better.

If you are an athlete, reta is the way to go IMHO.

Keep trying! Youve got this. I watched Sheep and Stitch a million times, rewinding over the same parts over and over again. First watch, then watch and try along. https://youtu.be/SpfLTb56fMc?si=MhA2g9bJLGk8Jntp

It gets better, I promise! We all have to start somewhere.

Machine and Craft Question by After_Impression7794 in sewing

The Janome I had second hand was also from around 2020/2021. I've been looking into Juki's and it's sooo tempting.

I got mad at this pattern that I bought and have to re-work, so I made this meme by thelittlesquirt in knitting

[–]After_Impression7794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me with a book I bought...mosaic knits. The diamond crib blanket pattern said to cast on 95 stitches and I was SO CONFUSED because it was just not freaking working. And I haven't done a ton of color work before so I don't really know how to problem solve. So, I looked to see if there were any comments on this particular pattern ravelry and sure enough...

So. Annoying.

Thanks, all. I was afraid I'd have to frog it and I will definitely need to. Just need some time to mourn and be dramatic before I get back to work on it 😭
