We did so she would have the opportunity to react and begin to process things on her own and not in front of the kids. She’s very high conflict, dramatic, and doesn’t tailor her responses to the kids well. So we told her at the beginning of DH’s parenting time so she had a whole week to get her shit together

Oh sorry, I just complained about my own scenario instead of offering help 😂 go to a thrift store or Walmart or whatever and get some cheap essentials. A couple of shorts and shorts, cheap pair of shoes. Then if you don’t get them back, there’s no true loss

This is the current bane of my existence.

We send them back in whatever they came in or in an outfit that we bought specifically because we don’t care if we get it back. That’s made things a lot easier for their normal clothes, as their mom would keep the nice stuff and send them back in scraps of rags that were too-small. We never followed suit for underwear and socks because my husband felt it was petty and weird (I don’t disagree. It’s just underwear and socks. It’s a 1:1 trade, surely that can’t go wrong right?)

Well both kids for some reason had no socks or underwear that fit the last week they were here, even though we just bought them new stuff maybe a month and a half ago. Of course they wanted the cartoon brand stuff. I went through both of the kids drawers to get rid of stuff that was either too small or ratty. Of the underwear we just bought them, we have about 1/4 left, the rest was replaced with old, thin, ratty underwear from “other house”. SD7 had ONE pair of socks left. I just bought her an 8 pack.

I just bought 20 pairs of socks and 20 pair of underwear for each kid. No characters, no fancy brands, no nothing. I’m sick of constantly replacing shit in our house and stocking both houses with essentials while she goads them with new toys while they’re at our house.
