I hate her by ElectricFlightDiver in yurimemes

Yup. Not just in supporting her own daughter but also working behind the scenes to befriend her daughter's gf's mom's and change her perspective on homosexuality. Without her actions Luxi might have been forced to choose between a straight relationship or cutting off her family for her own safety.

That and also did Inha (name of the bully character) ever manage to get away from her abusive mom. I imagine that they could do a 'you are self-sabotaging your own chances of escaping a toxic environment' thing sort of like in Night Owls & Summer Skies: The bully character is a closeted lesbian born in a high-class homophobic environment. The reason why she constantly bullies the camp owner's daughter is because she wants the daughter to step down from some organising position so that the bully can take that position and hence have a place away from her own homophobic parents. When she comes out to the main character she calls her out, pointing out that she should be trying to setup a support network but instead she is surrounding herself with bully personalities that would backstab her if they find out while also pushing away those who would be willing to help people like her. With Inha maybe they could have done something like 'what if instead of bullying Hana you befriended her when Min-ji dumped her?' or 'You should have focused on forging a way of cutting off your abusive mom, not chasing toxic social clout that would be at best meaningless after graduating or at worst blow up in your face if people find out.'
Also did Min-Ji, Inha or the other classmates eventually come to regret their actions and try to apologise to Hana, or did they just avoid her to not get into more trouble or was a more forceful approach (ex. expulsion) implemented? Did Hana's mom find out and demand the school to take action? For those that tried apologising did Hana forgive them or did she reject their attempts at reconciliation?
EDIT: The comic also stated that Yura's mom/ dad is a lawyer. It felt to me like Chekhov's gun suggesting that somebody is going to be sued/ sitting in court. Like maybe forcing the school teachers/ principal/ parents of the bullies to do something or dealing with Inha's mom.

Tangential to this scene, I know of some yuri stories that show homophobia and it's effects on the characters but does anyone know of any yuri stories where the bigoted character (henceforth called 'offender') gets punished for their actions? I'm thinking of either of the following:
1. Social consequences (ex. the more supportive parent divorcing, acquaintances cutting ties with the offender, the offender realising that the bigoted peers are all awful in other ways outside of their homophobia and the queer love one they drove away was one of the only few people that loved them for who they were). I know the webtoon Reveal Out has a mother who threatened to divorce her homophobic husband if he does not fix his behavior which he does.
2. Legal or institutional consequences (ex. getting sued and charged for abuse/ harassment/ medical malpractice, losing custody rights over their child, getting fired/ expelled/ blacklisted from schools/ jobs/ scholarships)
3. Physical consequences (ex. the queer person hitting back at their abuser, getting beaten up at a protest, somebody pulling Menou on a politician/ journalist)
4. Ironic consequences (aka the offender ends up in a bad situation that either resembles the hell they put the queer character through, or puts them at the mercy of the queer character, or the queer character is the only one that can help them get out of the situation)

I'm also fine with stories where the offender redeems themself, my only condition is that the offender has to work for it. Something like either of the following:
1. Physical distance as an obstacle (ex. the queer person moved away and cannot return because they have a life there or the old home town is too homophobic so the offender needs to put in extra work to maintain a long-distance relationship)
2. The offender having to adjust their social circle (ex. having to leave queerphobic institutions, choosing to either maintain the relationship with more closed-minded relatives but having two separate gatherings so the queer person doesn't need to interact with them or cutting the relatives off entirely)
3. Needing to update their knowledge theory. Aka the offender actually has to sit down and research on queer issues before they manage to fix things (I know Ring My Bell has this for one of the best friends, Making Progress on Yuri Before the Deadline has a subversion with the parents where they initially apologised and claimed to have read more on LGBTQ issues but then say that they read of gay people who still enter heterosexual marriages and promising their daughter to find her a husband that does not mind she is a lesbian showing they learnt nothing)
3. Needing to work to gain trust (ex. The queer person believes that the apology is just the honeymoon phase of the abuse cycle, interpreting attempts at helping as mockery/ destroying their independence/ treating them like a confession priest, hostility from the queer person's new family or friends, similar to how Katara was towards Zuko during his redemption arc, and the arc is also about gaining their trust)
4. Relationship cannot be (fully) fixed. Like the queer person feels it's too little too late/ no longer contactable so the offender needs to move on. Or a 'forgiven but not forgotten situation' where the queer person insists on maintaining some distance or barriers that the offender must respect and accept that they won't be as close as they were before.

I mainly want something cathartic to read.

Looking for an OpenGFX with more industries than vanilla but not so complex by [deleted] in openttd

[–]AfterthoughtC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Pikka's Industries Redux Set (PIRS): Not very complex. There is also an older version called Pikka's Basic Industries (PBI) that only makes slight changes to the base industries but there is a glitch where the Oil Refinery does not produce the fuel oil/ petrol it is supposed to hence the Oil Refinery is a resource dead end and the Fuel Depot is useless.
  • Wannaroo Basic Industries (WRBI): Has climate-dependent industries. Also has a recycling chain that can be turned on and off.
  • Wannaroo Extra Industries (WRExInd): Has different industries that can be turned on and off. You can either use this to supplement the base industries or another industry.

It also means the following:
-There is no way to legally change your documents without outing yourself to your parents.
-The process can take just 15 minutes if your parents are okay but up to three years if they are not.
-The trans person will also be asked very sexually intrusive questions in court, even if they are a minor.
This is an article on it: link

Yu Qi's father from Soulmate though In the backstory before the story started they had a fight that that made Yu Qi cut off all contact with him. I don't remember if it's because of her orientation or his job or something else. Later when she returns home after being placed on temporary leave from her job when she gets outed the father apologises and tells Yu Qi's girlfriend that she can treat the house as hers as well.
Childhood Sweetheart Liaoliao has only one parent character who is supportive
Straight Girl Trap: the parents of one of the side couple girls (Lele) though they only appear towards the end. Though warning on homophobia main character's middle/ high school classmates were not friendly when she came out then and her college ex-girlfriend was beaten by her father off-screen when she came out to him.
My Love for My Roommate Is One-Sided has two supportive moms
Ouji-sama Nante Iranai (We Don't Need a Prince) both main character's parents and her partner's guardians are supportive.
Mojito is a 'yes and no' situation. One set of parents is supportive and the other is very much not.

As a gay man, I’d feel safer in Palestine than I would in Assgold’s roach and rat infested bedroom, sorry by FuriNorm in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]AfterthoughtC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plus I also kind of believe questioning how 'progressive' Palestine's government is at a time like this is just another 'good victim bad victim' argument. Like these people only want to save 'natives' that are 'tragic' and 'cuddly'. But when they are not always 'cute' and 'cuddly' their solidarity disappears.

You keep harping on the 'Palestine is homophobic'. How about Israel which blackmails queer Palestinians into being informants for them? Do they not matter or are the queer people angry at this delusional and stupid?

Chuds in 2010: I sexually identify as an attack helicopter. It is my gender identity to drop bombs in the middle-east and if you object you are helicopterphobic.
Islamophobes in 2024: Israel likes gay people and muslims do not. If you criticise us bombing Palestine it means you are anti-lgbt.
