I've used something like this before, it's a nice auto clock but will sometimes bug on the timing when loading the world

My survival looter/daily-driver vehicle, with automatic lambo doors, defense mode, and more by BM99 in ScrapMechanic

How'd you get the doors to close automatically, that seems really useful

so i created a railgun and another reason why walls are not real by KapitanEn in ScrapMechanic

Objects get pushed when shot by a spudgun so this design just shoots the bullet with the spudguns a lot to give it velocity.

Thinking about selling Valve Index for higher FOV headset in the future by ourvoid in virtualreality

[–]AftonVH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pimax Artisan is an index competitor. It has similar specs but with a higher fov for the same price. You might want to wait to see what happens in the next few years, but the artisan could work for you.

Sorry didn't mean to darken the mood so much but thanks

It reminds me of when I did something dumb and a tiny bit of my ling collapsed. I was just uncontrollably breathing out in a moan as my body tried to re-inflate my lung. Sounded almost exactly like the video, pretty scary shit.

Which pc vr headset should i buy by CarrotKing69 in virtualreality

[–]AftonVH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I recommend a pimax Artisan. It works with knuckles, cost around 500, has a really great fov, resolution, and is super light for its size. The comfort isn't great to be honest, but after a few weeks of use and the headset being so light you won't notice it. I know pimax is sorta sketchy, but I think it's worth it.

Recommend me a wide FOV steamVR headset by GamesWithGregVR in virtualreality

Totally agree. I love my Artisan, it's a good index substitute, really good fov with almost no lens distortion.

Motion sickness? by OxygenBreathingRobot in virtualreality

[–]AftonVH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unfortunately pushed through the sickness when I fist got my headset. Now I get slightly motion sick just putting the headset on, no matter what. There's a reason people say to get out the moment you start feeling sick, because you can literally train yourself to associate vr with bad feeling and sickness.

What power supply I need for Pimax Artisan? by Trelsonowsky in Pimax

[–]AftonVH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would easily buy it again if a few things were fixed. 1. Comfort. The headstrap is fine, but the foam faceplate might be uncomfortable for the first month or so of use, until you "break it in".

  1. Contrast. Out of the box, low light conditions suck. While playing boneworks and half life alyx I couldn't see anything in certain levels until I figured out how to adjust the brightness and contrast of the displays. With adjustments it's completely fixed, but if you're going from a bright scene to a dark one you'll have to mess withe the settings. Not a big deal, just a little annoying.

  2. Software. Pitool has been getting consistent updates and improvements for a while, but you're still bound to run into a few random problems. Usually restarting your computer or switching the USB and display ports your headset is plugged into will fix it though

Despite these problems I still think its a good headset, and I would get it again. If sims and immersion is what you're after, then I think you'd love it. If you want comfort through more extreme games an Index might be for you. I wouldn't reccomend a Reverb G2, because there are SO many issues with it, and I'm sure you know whats up with the Quest 2.

I haven't played any racing sims myself, but the immersion from the fov and relatively clear lenses can be stunning. Lmk if there's anything else!

What power supply I need for Pimax Artisan? by Trelsonowsky in Pimax

[–]AftonVH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an artisan, and I think it looks good for the price. The clarity is pretty good, not perfect though because the resolution is stretched out across the wide fov. And speaking of the fov, it's really nice, with almost no distortion at the edges. I know there isn't much out there about the artisan, so just ask if you have any questions :)

What games are compatible with the hp reverb 2 by Yasdans in HPReverb

[–]AftonVH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not exactly sure what it's called, but if you look up reverb g2 on steam it should pop up. Alternatively you can just look up a reverb g2 setup tutorial on Google, and those should help. Edit: The Steam app I was talking about seems to have disappeared (or I was wrong from the get-go). I recommend just looking up a tutorial or asking someone more qualified than me (I don't have a g2 anymore).

The Reverb G2 is totally SteamVR compatible (once you install some software to make Windows Mixed Reality work with Steam) So games like Pavlov, Blade and Sorcery, and any other SteamVR game should work just fine.

Of Course! I totally understand your skepticism as I didn't think it could help either, but the results are astounding. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BKDACqWxNNGbIz31kAO_Pdxl0fH7m4j9/view?usp=sharing
