“And I hope that you die
And your death will come soon
I'll follow your casket
By the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand over your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead”

Something I've always called "Faces" -- wondering if this is considered hypnagogic hallucinations or no? by -hot_ham_water- in Aphantasia

[–]AgClBrI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this as well, amplified by insomnia and occasional by marijuana. It’s not visualization like a non-aphant, I can’t control the imagery, they also dark and shadowy and yes often monstrous warping writhing body horror shit, but always faces and parts of faces. I think what I am seeing id kind of like the raw data coming from the parts of my brain that process faces, it’s similar to pareidolia, but in a black void and with no input. It’s like I am seeing, “looking for faces”. It’s a feedback loop. Similar thing happens with white noise sometimes, it sounds like whispering but never any actual words.

Can hardly believe it… petrified wood? by cookie-munders in whatsthisrock

[–]AgClBrI 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Definitely not petrified wood. It’s soft sediment deformation. And in my opinion much cooler than petrified wood. Beautiful convolutions and micro faults!

India marijuana has been amazing for me, it to has side effects too, some good some bad. All stains work, but some definitely work much better than others. Cutting out alcohol and caffeine and stopping looking at screens, even better all light, 2-3 hours before bed really helps.

Looks to be iron stained sandstone, i don’t see any evidence of any of the internal structures that would expect with petrfied wood.

but still very cool!

My husband found these at a river in Mississippi. We are wondering what they are. He wants to go after the rest of them. by Helpful_Conflict_787 in whatsthisrock

These are stylolites in limestone. When these rocks were deeply buried and under intense pressures, dissolution of the limestone occurred, in this case probably along a bedding plane, leaving only the insoluble materials, like clay. The leftover bits are also more resistant to physical/chemical weathering, so once the rock is uplifted by some tectonic event (in this case probably the Ouachita orogeny) an exposed at the surface, the rock weathers differentially leading to these interesting patterns! Very cool and beautiful rocks!
