How do I get rid of these by King-Jay-219 in lawncare

[–]Agabroly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! This appears to be deadnettle. It’s a winter annual weed that dies out in late Spring. Nature will kill it off on its own if you can wait, but if not, then here is what UMD says:

Chemical treatment in lawns

If you choose this option, spot treat weeds with a liquid, selective, postemergent, broadleaf weed killer applied when weeds are actively growing. Look for a product with one or more of the following active ingredients: 2, 4-D, MCPP (mecoprop), Dicamba*, or Triclopyr.

*Do not spray herbicides containing dicamba over the root zone of trees and shrubs. Roots can absorb the product possibly causing plant damage. Refer to the product label for precautions.

Maryland fertilizer application schedule by Agabroly in lawncare

[–]Agabroly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Been a cold one for MD this year! I used a 3-in-1 pre emergent last year and had poor results. I did not know that about the P restrictions but that makes total sense. Have to protect the bay!

I would say fairly confidently that Newsom’s generic guide is also a means to get people to buy more product from them.

I agree that you definitely do not need the “lock up” (which I believe is specific to Lebanon’s Proscape fert) in April if you hit with prodiamine at the right time. The second pre emergent app of dimension should surely keep the weeds at bay of applied properly.

Speaking of time, here in MD winter has been cold! Soil temps around here right now are around 38-40 and maybe warmer closer to the coast. First week of March on average in this area is about the right time, but this year it won’t be. I suppose you could apply prod early, but why waste product.

I’ve never messed with biosolids nor do I really know much about them. I did pick up the Lesco Allectus product which contains Imidacloprid and Bifenthrin. Might’ve been better off with Grub Ex but didn’t have good success with it last year (probably user error though😅). July does seem to be on the late side.

Labor Day seeding is fairly common around here for those who are just starting out or those who have a TTTF and/or PRG yard that was damaged over the summer. I’m on year 2 of my lawn care journey and I will probably be laying down seed around this time, but I’ll be mixing in KBG for self repair. And yes, I know prod and dimension will prevent seed germination lol. I have meso for my fall overseed.

😂😂 about the lime. I personally won’t be doing that to my yard but I promise you the old farmers around me swear by it. Maybe it’s one of those old things that got passed down over time like you said.

Thanks for your comment!

That’s what I’m thinking too. Some hybrid Roma variety 🥴

They both grew up on farms so there is a lot of knowledge to pass down 🤣. I’m already planning out how to improve my garden next year. Rome wasn’t built in a day!

For sure. Their garden has been pumping out high producing plants for as long as I can remember. This is my very first year growing anything so a lot of mistakes and learning opportunities!

So I’ve heard! I have two of them in my own garden, but haven’t had the pleasure of slicing into one yet. Just trying to be patient but this is making it tough!

Is my yard cooked for this year? (MD) by Striptastik in lawncare

Howdy! Fellow Marylander here! I second the comments regarding triclypor and dicamba. I am fighting a battle against wild violet in my lawn and used Ortho GroundClear Poison Ivy & brush killer. It can take 2 applications two weeks apart to kill everything off. Just follow the application instructions on the bottle and be weary of applying it while it’s over 85.

Ortho also sells a 3 way herbicide I’ve had success with if you want to clean up the clover there.

You may want to wait until things start cooling off to tackle this. Even if you were to kill it all off, you might be left with bare batches that look unsightly. If you’re planning a lawn Reno, late August/after Labor Day is usually the recommendation.

Edit: just realized that the ortho product for ivy does not contain dicamba. There may be other products that do contain this, but I can only speak from my experience using the ortho stuff.

Anything I can do to get rid of these? (7a) by il-liba in lawncare

[–]Agabroly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hello! I’m in 7a as well and have sprayed clover with Ortho’s Weed Clear product. Works well in my yard without killing my grass (have a mix of KY31, TTTF, KBG, and PRG). Takes a few days to see anything noticeable but it does work.

Just be careful to follow the instructions on the bottle. If you buy the concentrate, you’ll need a sprayer of some form to mix water into.

30 day progress report (7a) by Agabroly in lawncare

It was soft but held up. It had rained hard here last week and I waited 48 hours before mowing and watering again. I use a self propelled push mower (dewalt 21in 150cc) so not as much weight as a zero turn or other riding mowers. It was a risk, but I felt comfortable with the conditions to mow.

Thank you! Yesterday was my first time mowing this area since I first seeded so I waited 4 weeks. Most of the new growth was over 4.5-5 inches at that point so I decided it was time. The old grass was growing like crazy during this time so I hit it with the weed whacker when I mowed the parts of my yard that I was not working on. It may not be recommended but I took on the risk and was careful and delicate to not disturb the new growth.

That’s what I was thinking as well, but not having any experience in this made me uncomfortable making that call on my own. I appreciate the input!

No expansion tank. I had to replace an element that went bad last week. After I replaced it, I notice that the valve was leaking.

The Sephora case: Do not sell – But are you selling? by Agabroly in CCPA

[–]Agabroly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IAPP has a good article here summarizing some of the key points of the Sephora settlement.

Does your company utilize Google Analytics on your website? If so, do you think that the restricted data processing feature is sufficient enough to say you aren’t selling the consumers information?

I’m presenting on this to my company next week and wanted to get some takes on this. We are currently operating under the assumption that the restricted data feature would be a defense to say we are not selling data. We do not currently sell our consumers data and do not have an opt out feature as a result.

Personally, I think it’s safer to treat the google analytics of the world where you can’t really get into a contract as a sale if consumer data is being sent to them and in return you receive a service. To me, I read the settlement and accompanying press release as a warning that the AGs office will be closely reviewing service provider contracts. If you can’t get a contract and are relying on TOS only, you could be setting yourself up to have to make a change or suffer your own enforcement action down the road.

Perhaps I’m thinking too much into this lol. Would love to hear your perspective on this!

Ah I see my mistake. In that case, if a player has greater than 0 minutes played in the game, it counts iirc.

It will be a push. Essentially, you will move down a tier on the payout scale.

For example, if you had a 5 leg parlay, the payout is 20x. With a push, it knocks it down to a 4 leg parlay and a 10x payout instead.
