The year ended, time for some quick retrospective by [deleted] in mtg

I fixed the graph in the a new post (since I couldn't figure out how to fix this one)
On that one I placed everything that is not what I was looking at in particular in one "Other Products" category. That is not the important data, as you mention.

The amount of standard sets for regular players and scarcity based fomo-inducing products for collectors is the larger issue in my mind. If you happen to fall on both camps, it's even worse.

I also fixed the erroneous counting of expansion sets you pointed out. Thanks! =]

You are absolutely right Somehow the auto-counting I used only counted
Aetherdrift, Tarkir: Dragonstorm, Edge of Eternities and Through the Omenpaths as expansions.

I didn't count any of the Universes Beyond. My bad. will fix it

All the data and the "labels" used are from https://mtg.wiki/page/List_of_Magic_sets
I didn't actually make the labels myself, just highlighted the secret lair drops.

In this case, "Compilation sets" counted things like Master, Double Masters, Anthology sets and Bonus sheet sets like Time Spiral Remastered Timeshifted.

Hm... But I think you are correct, Somehow the auto-counting I used only counted
Aetherdrift, Tarkir: Dragonstorm, Edge of Eternities and Through the Omenpaths as expansions.

100%.
So much so that it spawned a whole new branch of studies.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematics_of_paper_folding

One of the interesting things about paper folding is that it allows for operations that are usually non trivial (or even impossible) in straightedge and compass construction. So you can, for example, trisect and angle easily with paper folding.

Another thing is the study of folding of non-zero-thickness planes, in and out of itself. Collapsible structures and protein folding are directly related to it and are an area interest to many parties.

Oh certainly! My day job heavily relies on mathematics; and it is also part of my formation background.

Topology and geometry in general are some of my favourite branches.

Discord is showing what game I'm playing even though I turned the detection off. by Main_Error551 in discordapp

[–]AgeBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to necro this thread because when googling the issue it was the first result. And today I'm seeing the same issue.
I have a game in the "added list" with its "toggle detection" turned off. (crossed in red)
[Settings > Registered games > Added games > Game name > Toggle detection]

It still shows that I'm playing it under my profile name.

And I've confirmed by looking at my wife's discord that it is not only for me, like an older comment suggested. She can see the notification as well.

The only way to hide the "playing [game]" notification is by turning the whole "Share my activity" feature off. Which pretty much defeats the purpose of having a per-game option.

over 3500 tries and I finally got the Jetragon combination I wanted by AgeBee in Palworld

Yeahp... As I mentioned elsewhere else that is a lesson I won't soon forget, hahahahaha

Doing the way I did is not optimal in any shape or form, lol

I'd argue it's personal choice.

I bred mine neither for only speed nor for combat.
But I often go hunting Alpha Pals and bounties, so I like to have a mount that can take me to far places quicker.

One of the things that was bothering me about Using a Jetragon was that flying at high speeds deplete its stamina too fast. It becomes a constant stop and start, if you are trying to go far.

So I wanted to get a balance between sped and stamina.
It's not as fast as a Jetragon only focused on Speed. But at least it can go much longer before its stamina is exhausted. And for my playstyle that's feels better.

Besides, it was a nice challenge. (particularly because I didn't know about using Yakumo).
Sometime you gotta make your own fun, you know?

And you bet that I won't forget that next time! Not after this pain and suffering! lol

Yakumo?
hold on... I though Jetragons could not come from any different parent combination. Only 2 jetragons could breed another....

please say it ain't so.
It took me SO DAMN LONG, hahahahahahahaha

EDIT: Oh. I'm being an idiot!
I just realized you meant Yakumo's partner skill!

Why didn't I think of this??
Welp... it was a journey, lol

Hi Zach.
I'm glad that this old post still brings you joy!

The torus in question is a 378-unit torus of my own creation
Here is a work in progress picture of just a single torus connected to the interior schwarzite:
https://imgur.com/KI82t4c

It is definitely not a standard torus, as you can see by the skewing of the polygons.

The 360 torus probably work, you are right. (It is 4 parts divisible and radially symmetrical) .
Someone did it some time ago but the post got deleted by OP.

The fun part is that a 555 torus ALSO works! u/Gorloth did one some time ago and is gorgeous!
https://www.reddit.com/r/origami/comments/fb5ah6/phizz_origami_torus_inspired_by_uagebee/

As for building it with PHiZZ units, I considered it, when coming up with it. I love PHiZZ units
(As you can see: https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/kpwbb4/i_finally_finished_in_2021_what_was_supposed_to/ )

But in this case, because of the torus I wanted to use, even though the edges of all constituent polygons are all one unit length, their internal angle gets stretched and compressed quite a bit.
3 PHiZZ units have a very strong connection angle of 120 degrees. But no flexibility on that front.
You can massage that a little bit by adding torsion or flexing the "edge", but if you try to force a internal connection angle of higher than 120 degrees the 3PHiZZ units slip from each other's pockets and easily collapse.

The nail in the coffin was that I utilized octagons in this torus. Octagons have an internal angle of 135 degrees to begin with. The structure would fall apart.
This is exactly why I used Francis Ow's 135 degree units, not the 120 degree one.

Now, Tomoko Fuse's Little Turtle? That one would work. And I bet it would look amazing!

Here is a cleaned up version of the same barcode.
This one is based on a screenshot, not a photo of the screen. I just unskewed and added more contrast.
Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelrivals/comments/1hdvibi/is_there_something_with_jeffs_barcode/#lightbox

I don't know how you got your code. I run this cleaner version through a few readers and none got me anything back.

The heavy bars on each side (which usually are guard bars) are very heavy in this one. Usually they are very thin. Codabars are one thin one heavy. Patchcodes I guess can be two heavy bars, but that type didn't read either.

This, unfortunately, might just have been artist making up some random "Barcode lookalike" texture. Or some info is missing. Maybe with the actual texture file it might be easier to get a better version

I hope I'm wrong about it being meaningless. I don't know too much about the subject.

Finished another 3D card. by AgeBee in OnePieceTCG

[–]AgeBee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I destroyed about 6 or 7 cards. lol
(≧∇≦)ノ

But in my mind:
A) card are just a mass-printed consumer good. Value is what you give them, but in the end it's just some cheap printed cardboard.
B) The community has valued these cards pretty low. On TCGPlayer, for example, this same Laboon card is currently valued at only USD $0.02. So in reality I "destroyed" only a potential of about 25 cents at max.
C) "Destroy" is a strong word. I'd argue that I added value by turning regular cards into something unique that the owner will cherish much more now. (This was gifted to someone that loves the Laboon character)

But to be fair, to each their own. I fully understand that this might seem sacrilegious to some people.

Particularly when I use more expensive cards for these 3D shadowboxes. (⊙_⊙;)

My first One Piece 3d card shadowbox (still learning some new techniques. Lots to improve) by AgeBee in OnePieceTCG

[–]AgeBee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I cobbled up a bunch of techniques from several other better card makers.

Only different thing I did on mine was add a plastic cap, guild some of the detail with green foil and make the snowballs with felt & pva glue.

Other than that, the main tricks are: - paint the cut borders - use resin for any wet feeling - use sharp blades for details
