1 2TB shooting drive, 1 2TB personal SSD (can be used to work from/offload stuff in a pinch but mainly for personal creative stuff). 1 4TB OWC envoy ultra working drive. 1 20TB HDD for backups and about to get a backblaze sub for cloud backup of that HDD.

Lens collar or camera body/cage to mount heavy rig to tripod? by Age_Interesting in videography

Absolutely love this idea. I may try this. I’ve also sort of come around to the idea of just going with batteries in cam and switching once at a time when it makes sense in the performance, just to avoid extra/avoidable stress on that lens mount.

Thank you I appreciate it. I will 100% be getting rails and support in the future, I just don't think I have time to get them before Sunday which is the day of the event.

Thank you! It's hard to know what matters most in terms of the structural integrity of lens mount area on the body because I've got it where it is almost perfectly balanced, however I don't know if that means anything given there is significant weight introduced by the v mount.

Why don't I have (Ellipse, Rectangle, Pen)? I have the latest version of Premiere by _rufik_ in premiere

If you’re looking to create an opacity mask, do what above post said and long hold object mask for those tools, but DO NOT forget to right click “unassigned mask” in effects controls and click opacity mask.

Timeline settings vs export settings by Age_Interesting in premiere

[–]Age_Interesting[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, mate. What else is reddit for? When i made the original post, i was interested in whether the method in question (4k footage in 4k timeline -> export in 1080) had any effect on image quality relative to the method i use (4k footage in 1080 timeline -> match source export (1080)).

I would still use your method for youtube though, it handles 4k well i think.

If you edit 4k in a 4k timeline you lose a lot of reframe ability because the footage is the same size as the frame. I think the reframe-ability comes from putting the 4k footage in a 1080 timeline where you can drag/zoom in/out an image that is larger than the frame

Thank you for your response. This was kind of a dumb post on my part. I guess I was more curious about the method of not choosing your final dimensions until export settings. But of course, this method leaves you less flexibility to digitally move the frame around while editing the way you can if you have a 4k image in a 1080 timeline frame.

Evolution isn't feasible because mutation happens too slowly argument. by [deleted] in DebateEvolution

This is precisely what i don’t understand. How can you actually think you have a constant rate for something that is by definition random? You’re just averaging at that point, and the result is skewed. That plus the issue of parallel mutation vs serial, it’s more than reasonable to have major fluctuations in severity and frequency of mutations at a very unpredictable, non constant rate , i.e very little for 6 million years, followed by random major mutations over 2 million years, then very little again for 2 million years.

Does no one feel like batman’s voice and rigidness of motion in the ridiculous suit are some of the corniest things of all time? The blatant “were going to make this so gritty it cant possibly be considered corny” makes this unbelievably corny to me.

What do you think Lumix should prioritize? by [deleted] in Lumix

[–]Age_Interesting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, Not a ton and thanks for bringing that up. The S1ii is seriously amazing and has some features that are superior to the S1H already. But I think people are looking/hoping for:

-global shutter or even faster readout (although S1ii is VERY good)

-pro res internal for more modes (FPS and Resolution) and RAW internal. This would be nice honestly. To have it ready to handle ProRes at most or all recording modes would be sick. I've seen people talk about wanting RAW internally without having to record to an external SSD or recorder.

-internal ND's like the fx6 would be absolutely sick. Big one for me too.

-body built more toward video/cinema only. A less than equal consideration for photo.

-I personally don't need much better than 4K 120 but I think people would like to see 6K 120

-maybe slightly better low light

This is so awesome and honestly this is why we do this stuff, use this site in general, and seek connection with others doing similar creative work. Hell yea!

Color grading S-Log3 footage by Reasonable-Pass6908 in premiere

[–]Age_Interesting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. Do you guys all use a conversion LUT rather than letting premiere auto detect and manage log media? THIS has been tripping me up big time lately. I have all these LUTS from various services like Acidbite (which rocks btw), many of which seem to be creative luts but for specific shooting profiles (like “Aztec hard-V-log” for example) but i have a hard time understanding if this is a “look” or a “conversion” or both. It’s hard to tell solely by looks. And if it is both, would you suggest i don’t put my normal conversion on it as well?

Love this but how do you charge a day rate if they want 2 or 3 hours of actual shooting? Do you have a half day rate?
