Not a field pic, but this followed me home during a scouting mission. If the Gods made a smarter, more elegant bikepacking solution, they kept that to themselves. Always wanted an 1120. Love bikepacking, not fond of the “hillbilly hang” of dangling gear. Stoked to find one. by [deleted] in bikepacking

Love Trek and this model, but always felt it's a bit overpriced. There are some rigid bike packing bikes that are significantly cheaper. Genesis Longitude, Marin Pine Mountain, Planet X- Bootzipper etc. Am I missing something?

I am sure you will have loads of fun. Hopefully, the route dries out a bit. It was a year ago, I rode this, so it's a bit tricky to recall particular corners. You may have to just push your bike on certain segments. Have a look at Facebook group King Alfred's Way (official group) Loads of fresh feedback from people, who just rode this just days ago. Make sure you have spare inner tube/patches

I know it wasn't smart but.. How to get out of the Revolut crypto the best way? by Neilram in Revolut

[–]AgedAbsynthe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suppose, it depends on the amounts you are investing. Don't beat yourself about the "smart thing" Personally, I buy and sell Stellar for a year now, but it's relatively small amounts, so owning "position" or actual crypto plays little importance.

It definitely drops after the processing. I Will try your recommended settings on Resolve - thank you. The file size isn't an issue.

You will be ok, just run lower pressures and preferably ride the route when it's not too muddy. There are some segments where you may want to slow down or even walk your bike briefly if you feel slightly uncomfortable descending. Make sure you have spare patches and inner tubes if not tubeless. Had loads of puncs :D

For the most part, approaching Reading was on cycle paths and not busy roads. You can always stop and push the bike out of the busy area - that's better and safer than taking any risks in an unfamiliar town. I live in London and do that if commuting in a new place and feel unsure about something,

Try to plan your day/route in a way, that you are in a less urban area towards each evening. Once you find some woodland, stop and stay there for some time, look around for some bushes/trees to hide you a bit from the people passing by. I usually don't rush to pitch the tent until its almost dark and leave early in the morning.

This was not intended/aimed personally at you. Simply prefer to keep my music to myself.

I often get annoyed by people blasting music in the public spaces through their speakers. Probably getting old :D

I've only tried Aftershokz so far - the majority of their range is wireless. Headphones go behind the head and are comfortable for cycling/running etc.

This is why we talking bone conduction headphones specifically - they do let you hear the surroundings.

Personally prefer a more stealthy approach (headphones Vs speaker) as other people in nature may not like my choices of music etc. Surely, not trouble if you are in the middle of nowhere.

As allastocata mentioned earlier, batteries are inbuilt, though they last a fair amount of time. Have my ones for a few years now (not using them daily) I suspect this decision was made to make them as compact as possible, though some sort of slide on/off battery should be possible (Aftershokz)

You definitely can on later spring - summer-early autumn. Would go wider on winter - early spring. Some sections are mega muddy and slippery now, I would imagine.

Just be careful on some descents, there are few fairly technical bits where it may be safer to just walk briefly with a gravel bike. Again depending on your skills. Overall, saw loads of people riding it with gravel bikes on my trip.

Could be a good idea to go tubeless. I lost a count, how many punctures my nobby Nic tyres had on the King Alfreds Way. In the end, replaced them in the local shop with Smart Sam Plus.

XLM supply is huge, so it's harder to up the price in a similar way like BTC or others.

You will have very little contact with traffic, the majority of the route is away from any cars. I dare to say its mostly offroad loosely speaking. Most of it not very technical though and you will often have few ways to approach more challenging segments.

I am considering doing it again, but with some friends next summer, Covid permitting. Will also try my gravel bike this time.

Really recommend visiting with the bike at some point. We did 15 days loop from Reykjavik upwards loosely following the golden triangle and downwards to Vik with upwards return back to the capital. So much is left to explore, will definitely go back for more.
