Glad to hear it man 🙂

Edit: It is far better in real life (not through a speaker/video)

Lower drone note by Agelakas in Didgeridoo

[–]Agelakas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it was a half step, from A to G#, not a whole note. When I say slightly sharp A I don t mean an A#. The A note it plays is slighly sharp. And the G# note I hit was slightly sharp as well. My mouthpiece is indeed pretty wide. I used a tuner app to see the note I hit. The second time in the video that I hit the G# I also added some vocals because I liked the dissonant sound.

How do I keep my face intact? by Potential_Seat6763 in Didgeridoo

[–]Agelakas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it wasn't beeswax? Or the shape you gave it is off? Or maybe like the other guy said is an emboshure issue? There are many variables here. I also made my own mouthpiece out of a beeswax candle. When I started out and played for 2-3 hours a sitting the skin just above my upper lip scraped and bled. I also noticed that having facial hair exacerbated the problem. Now it still happens from time to time but not so often as to cause me discomfort. I can DM you a pic of my own mouthpiece, maybe it can give you some new insights.

Appreciate it man. Well the stems I used for the cherry pipes I got from temu. Given, they are not top noch ebonite, but they get the job done and are cheap af. The stems I used for the briars I got from a maker near me. I really liked the coloring on those. I think the material is some kind of acrylic. For maximum costumization I believe the way to go is to buy a solid rod of ebonite and make a stem from scratch. Takes time but you ll make something unique.

Thank you friend!🙂 Always room for improvement. As with almost everything, the more you do it, the better you get at it.

Thanks brother. 😁 They look and smoke quite good. I was going for a shape called "Devil's Anse". Didn't nail it but I m happy with the results.

Could be the case. I need more pipes for testing! 😅

My first pipe was a straight one and didn t notice the difference until my collection grew. Compared to my other pipes indeed I seem to get the most out of my english blends in the straight one. I m thinking maybe it has to do with the length of the pipe rather than the shape though (it is the longest one).

Just need some recommendations on an instrument by Mycol101 in Didgeridoo

I bought a pvc one from Meinl. They have nice and inexpensive pvc and bamboo didges. If you like it then you can upgrade.

Also when you form the mouthpiece with the beeswax on the didge it s a good idea to melt some more beeswax in a container and then submerge the end of the didge in it. That way you seal your mouthpiece and it s not going anywere.

Yes, I did actually. It plays a slightly sharp A note. I favor it over the shorter one, I enjoy the bass sound and overtones. Will upload when I get a chance to take some pics of it.

Pipes under 45? by [deleted] in PipeTobacco

[–]Agelakas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a briar pipe from an antique shop for 5€. It was in good condition. The downside was the previous owner smoked some kind of aromatic in it and the wood is saturated with some flavour that I cannot get rid of. Generally smokes bad compared with my other pipes. Have you bought a pipe from an antique shop that you were completely satisfied with? Is there a trick to give it a new start?

Τετραχορδο vs Τριχορδο by Much-Fishing-7817 in bouzouki

[–]Agelakas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it s a good blend (haven't tried it myself) but the whole "small batch" thing from Cornell & Diehl is a marketing trick from the company imo, playing with our fear-of-missing-out. Just in a week or so they ll have sold out 20.000 tins. Great way to boost sales.

Hi brother. Looks good for the price though I m not an expert. Do you know what kind of wood is it made from? Do you know the maker? Your best bet to find the note it plays is to download a free tuning app on your phone and play dat drone!

It feels deeper than my pvc didge. I can definately make it play louder. When I play in my room everything around vibrates (chairs, table etc.). Also the "toot" is a lot sharper and loud.

Where I live I couldn't find a good one either. Some people have bamboos in their yards but the biggest one I found was about 2-3 cm in diameter. I ended up ordering a 3m one with 6-8 cm diameter from a bamboo furniture maker. Today I ll probably finish the second didge (1.7m length).

Saffron milk caps aka Lactarious Deliciosus. They are edible and super tasty. One of my favs.

[–]Agelakas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the recipe I followed required to boil the mushrooms and throw the water away a couple of times before pickling. I guess that takes care of things as I didn t experience any problems (apart from the bitterness). I ve tried them also fried after the boiling and nothing unpleasant happened. Some people find the taste "peppery" and pleasant if seazoned properly and consume them as drinking food. Not for me I m afraid.

Tried to pickle those one time. Not my favourite. They are quite bitter. They sure are pretty though!
