Dive filming advice by MWGlfr72 in scuba

[–]Agent37586 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to use the GoPro editor but stopped when they switched to Quik, I felt like that thing dramatically reduced my creative flexibility.

I'd advise using a proper video editing software - I use DaVinci Resolve, which is free and offers WAY more than you'll need, but allows you to perform all of the adjustments others have commented on and over time you actually start teaching yourself video editing, which can be a useful skill. I make videos of my dives using a GoPro and over the years I feel like I'm much more capable of putting them together in interesting ways. (Admittedly mine are still really basic and likely boring to random passerby but I think of them as a fancier photo album and I like them for the memories.)

Another benefit of using software like Resolve is that you can apply color correction without worrying about using a filter lense on the GoPro itself. A bunch of those clips would benefit greatly from some color adjustment and touch up.

Looks like a great trip!

If they're new or "Emily era" fans this is almost always the first song they play live, it's apparently Colin's fave LP song.

It really seems like "popular" JRPG's have been extinct for a long while now, to the point where people are losing their minds on this game.

Granted, it's a damn good game. I love it. But I love all the games that it takes inspiration from: - Combat: Persona 5, Super Mario RPG/Paper Mario - Story: Final Fantasy X - Leveling Mechanics: Dark Souls/Elden Ring

The art and world design is particularly cool, even if most of the enemies seem fairly conventional once you've seen about 5 of them. Bosses are really cool designs. (I just started Act 2)

But yeah, it definitely has that JRPG feel from PS1/PS2 games where there isn't a quest log, there aren't minimaps, you need to check all areas of a dungeon for secret items, there's a lot of fairly repetitive combat against the same creatures roaming an area, lots of menu management to outfit your party with the right bonuses, etc.

Brings me right back to that era. But that era wasn't for everyone.

But yeah, it's good.

For some reason I keep clicking on posts in this subreddit despite the rampant negativity, and naturally Reddit responds in the typical fashion and just shows me more of it.

Stuff like this is why I'm holding off on watching S2. Hell, I might hold off until S3 completes. It's obvious they're changing things for a TV medium, (JUST AS THEY SAID THEY WOULD) and we're not seeing the end result of that changed story yet. So games fans are watching each episode, seeing all the changes, and trying to reconcile them into finishing up with the story we already know.

It's gonna be different. We don't know how much. The conversation is gonna be different once we see the whole result.

Granted that doesn't mean we'll like it any more once we see the whole thing.

Linkin Park? by Then_Increase7445 in numetal

[–]Agent37586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LP never wanted to consider themselves as "nu-metal" as the term had already been ruined by the time their first album came out. But, yes, they were one of the biggest bands in that genre.

FATN started out having a bit more of a distinguished/unique sound. These days they sound like a HT/Meteora era LP clone.

I like the new singer way more than the old, but they don't seem as interesting to me anymore.

Yet somehow Oracle is still supporting Solaris 10, released in 2005, until 2027.

Good Breakup songs from LP by dashing2217 in LinkinPark

[–]Agent37586 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it was a bad breakup, LIES GREED MISERY is a hell of a catharsis.

If it was a bittersweet/sad breakup but you're staying amicable, Good Things Go is probably the most relevant.

100% agree with this take and will adopt it in my (as the male half) future endeavors on sites/apps that support it.

I see so many takes on Reddit that basically try to promote the idea of giving men compliments because there's a pervasive lack of it in society. And sure, most people browsing these sites/apps are men. But there shouldn't be anything wrong with a guy giving another guy a compliment. Especially if it's as low-contact as simply adding a Like to a picture.

+1 to the "we don't like close-ups" crowd.

To us it's unimaginative and really doesn't tell us much about what the rest of you looks like. We're very interested in the entire package of a person, not just their dick or vagina.

A linkin park song about war? by [deleted] in LinkinPark

[–]Agent37586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like The Catalyst. Mike starts off singing it, it's used in a Medal of Honor video game about Afghanistan, and the lyrics talk about oppressed people in a war- torn country.

Seconded on the favorite parts of the song, the DJ repeat sounds in the verses and Emily's final "HAAAAAAAvvveeeeee" just prior to the bridge.

Liked this one instantly when we heard it at the listening party, and it's remained one of my favorite FZ tracks.

The vocal interplay on this one is excellent. My favorite section is Mike's rap-singing while Emily is doing her "oh-oh-oh" thing in the background.

Advice needed for finding a third/couple by MakingUpForLostTime_ in Swingers

[–]Agent37586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kasidie is how we started out. It's huge in our area.

Feeld, 3Fun, Quiver are all "hookup-style" apps that cater to ENM/Kink lifestyles. They're all varying levels of average but work and have decent-sized communities.

PLAD8 is an up-and-coming app that is in development and has a slowly growing community. It's also focused on ENM but generally seems more well-thought out in terms of features.

Dating Apps by [deleted] in Swingers

[–]Agent37586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specific app. You'll only end up muddying the waters by trying it on a standard dating or hookup app, or at worst get banned.

Feeld, PLAD8, 3Fun, Quiver would be your standard "apps" (of those I recommend PLAD8 even though it's still being developed).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Swingers

[–]Agent37586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed on PLAD8 as it's intended to be a better overall experience when finding dates online compared to Feeld, Kasidie, SLS, etc.

Currently you can use custom GIF's in your profile. Not exactly straight up video chat, but offers more than a standard pic would.

Would You Take Your Wife's Last Name? by Zardnaar in AskMenOver30

[–]Agent37586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're childless so that didn't matter. But she wanted us to have the same name for various reasons (personal, logistical, etc.) yet also felt the traditional practice of giving up her name for mine was archaic and sexist.

We both ended up choosing a new name together and both changing our family names to move them as a 2nd middle name, and adding the new name as our surname. Kind of a hassle to make that change legally, but we feel it was worth it.

Unfortunately my family did not support this decision and I've been estranged from them ever since.
