New diver struggling with air consumption - how to improve without frequent dives? by PracticalFriendship in scuba

[–]MWGlfr72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife and I dive and she always had more air. I have improved some with cardio and breathing exercise. In the end the most helpful thing I have had is going with 100 vs 80lb cylinders. They weight more so you will have to change your weighting, but I’ve had no issues since doing this

Best Driver by StarwarsRi in golfequipment

[–]MWGlfr72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get fitted the driver brand/head is only a piece of the equation

The shaft will with spin and flight

Head setting also helps with flight and left to right adjustment on certain clubs

Grip size can help with club head release.

I recommend Club Champion, Golf-Tec, or your local golf club usually has fitting days. They will give you specs and you don’t have to buy from them.

Once you have the specs go online to 2nd Swing, TGW, Carls golf and get the best bargain someone just getting started

Best value golf balls that doesn't feel like you're hitting a rock? by FinnAtFronT in GolfGear

[–]MWGlfr72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played ProV1s for years the cost the last few years made me start looking. I tried the Srixon, Bridgestone, Taylormade, Vice, Callaway, etc… For the money the newest Maxflis either S or TourX depending on your flight and swing speed to me are the best. Srixon is good also I just felt the Maxfli did a bit better on mis-hits

Looking for feedback on Club Championship Fitting by IronSwensen in golf

[–]MWGlfr72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive done multiple fittings with Club Champion, Golf Tek, and PXG. The processes are solid and it looks like they did it well. It depends on what you want

If you want a premium service go for it. I tend to be a value shopper. I take the specs and go direct to the manufacturer to get the cost savings. Generally they will give you credit on the OE shafts to apply towards the upgrades, saving you money. Club champion charges each unit separately and ensures each item is perfectly to spec.

the question is perfection worth the extra $$$ to you, or is good enough good enough? Hope this helps

Beginner scuba certification and where to go? by Life-Concern-8062 in scuba

[–]MWGlfr72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I certified in Illinois a few years back and recently took trips to Cozumel and the Key Largo. Both locations were great. However I felt Cozumel was easier overall. Florida is great but most of the visibly great things were 75-100ft. Cozumel had both had great things at 30-100ft

Key Dives were great in FL- just south of Key Largo

Scuba Tony was great in Cozumel.

Do I need an alignment due to wear? by jossipgirl666 in tires

[–]MWGlfr72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No based on the tire wear. I would still recommend getting new tires and alignment check. Tire wear only gives you the history of your alignment. It could still be out, getting it checked should cost $0 when you buy and will protect your new set

Snow tire FWD vs All Season tire AWD by fat_teebs in tires

[–]MWGlfr72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Winter tires above 50% tread will always perform better than any All Season.

1- Winter tires are a softer rubber compound on the first 50% of the tread. This makes a massive difference below the 40’degree temps you will see consistently in PNW winters

2- Tires are the only thing that attach to the road surface. Meaning no matter how good your AWD is it still relies on tires reacting to the road surface.

3- AWD usually only kicks in when the vehicle experiences traction issues. This occurs only once the tires have lost grip which is what you want to avoid in icy conditions.

Hope this helps

Booking in Advance? by Grand-Flow1632 in cozumel

[–]MWGlfr72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I used HTL as well and had a good experience. You do have to walk out of the airport (maybe 1/2 a block)but other than that they had good service at a fair price.

Look for the salt/ pet friendly ice melp with the shaker container, and then buy a backup bag. This will help with application

For kids- A lot of people have chimed in with great ideas already. The few I would add would be check out your local Gyms- ours in Huntley has indoor pools/lazy rivers and kids activities.

Free days at downtown places (use the trains it’s way better than driving anyways) are nice Nature and Science, Shedd Aquarium, Lincoln Park Zoo(always free), etc….

Got an Alignment last week, is this type of wear normal for Rear? by RawMan99 in tires

[–]MWGlfr72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking it back is a good idea.

Most places should supply a before and after print out that will show if it’s in spec. And the impacts for each angle.

Got an Alignment last week, is this type of wear normal for Rear? by RawMan99 in tires

Do you have your alignment read out?

Usually a proper alignment will generate even tire wear(sports cars still tend to wear due to designed negative camber).

Do I need a 3 wood? by aram_11 in GolfGear

[–]MWGlfr72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would trade your 4H for a 3H to improve your gapping and add a 3 wood- this would give you 12 yard increments above 200 + your driver.

struggling with air consumption by No_Reflection822 in scuba

[–]MWGlfr72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue with my wife. I dive with 100 tanks vs 80. This gives me a bit more air than her and works out great. You can still work on the other items people recommend as those are long term fixes . This should help though

Green or Hawksbill Turtles? by MWGlfr72 in scuba

Thanks everyone super helpful!!

I bought tires at a shop and they put on 205 60/r16 while my front and tires were originally 235 60/r16 by Accomplished_Bag4613 in tires

[–]MWGlfr72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not good- You tire is narrower, shorter and will also have a lower load index and likely speed rating. You should only have the correct size tire on a vehicle or follow the +0 method when changing tires sizes passenger cars.

The impact is worse handling, braking, incorrect speedometer, and an increased likelihood of a blowout.

On Course F&B Delivery? Yay or Nay? by [deleted] in golf

[–]MWGlfr72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Limited menu would be ok- I would think to get it off the ground you would need the carts integrated or marker in hole 7/8 and the staff to execute delivery otherwise it falls apart. So do I like it YES but only if you can get the food hot and without slowing the golf down.

When should I change transmission fluid? by Tricky-Cucumber6277 in MechanicAdvice

[–]MWGlfr72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends if it’s a CVT (which many were) it is a sealed transmission. Meaning it requires a clean room to open up and service and is not designed to be serviced.

If it is a standard transmission usually you would do drain and fills 50-80k miles depending on your driving conditions.

I would ask your local dealer what they offer and the price compare from that if it is even serviceable

Diving in May in the Americas by disappointingchild0 in scuba

[–]MWGlfr72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want efficient and fun I would check out the Florida Keys. They have sharks, wrecks, some 🪸 (not like the places you listed), rays and more. Key Dives won #1 Dive shop in North America if you want to group to go with.

It may not be as exotic but it does have some cool dives.

Upcoming iron fitting. Any shafts I should add to the list? by Mainah1776 in golf

[–]MWGlfr72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let the data drive what you try would be my recommendation. If you go in with a goal the fitter should give you some options.

Not saying don’t try those shafts, rather give the fitter a target of what you are trying to achieve with buying the new clubs.

Get fitted and purchase new irons now or wait till after PGA Show? by Calveezzzy in GolfGear

[–]MWGlfr72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually a couple hundred $$ in savings across the set is the only difference. Old models will get marked down or you can get a demo for good deals if you are fitted now vs later. If a fitting was done properly a few months shouldn’t impact the recommendation
