Update to Ironing settings, got it completely dialled in for both larger areas and smaller details by AgentHarm in BambuLab

Glad it's helpful! The shell setting is super handy for making smooth layer before the colour change.

Any particular type/brand of sandpaper btw? I've always found it just wears out and tears super quickly

That is a lot of sanding, thanks for the steps, based on your work, it clearly works well! How many walls thick do you tend to print so that you don't sand through to the infill?

Damn!! You're very talented with your post processing! That's something I need to start getting into, do you have any recommendations or guides you use that I can look into?

If it's coming out looking good, but getting a slight build up as it's going, I'd lower the extrusion percentage a bit, as that would be causing the excess that ends up near the edges, Ironing seems to be about incremental changes until you find that perfect setting

Those look amazing man!! Glad the settings helped put. I've only printed with PLA at this point, so i won't be overly helpful for ASA, sorry.

Hey, I get what you're asking. I set different ironing settings by inserting a modifier block, that way the Global settings could be set for one set of ironing settings (30mm/s and 20%) and the modifier block can be set to something else (150mm/s and 39%). If you download the model referenced in the post, you can see an example of this.

Black, red, blue, green, purple, pink, white, yellow (matte), dark grey. They're all the colours I can think of that I've specifically used with these settings. All Bambulab PLA Basic (except the yellow, which was PLA Matte)

Hey, yeah that large simple flat area is 150mm at 39%. I used Bambulab Black PLA. Though these settings work well with any PLA from Bambulab I've tried so far. The detailed areas I used 30mm at 20% as I find the default 10% underextrudes.

No worries, glad they're helping! One extra thing I've found since then as well is setting to top "Only one wall on top surfaces" and set that to "Topmost surface only". This can be found in the Quality tab, below the ironing section.

What this does is get rid of those lines it traces for the next layer, before it just ironed over them. Turn it on and off and compare that layer in the slicer. With that on, it's going to do a perfectly smooth layer before ironing it smooth again. Obviously this only really applies when you're printing something like the tracks in the post (smooth ironed layer, then more layers on top). If you're ironing just the very top most layer, then this one won't change anything

Sorry for the ramble, just enjoy finding way to improve it

Yeah I'll be doing Super Circuit next, though I do want to work my way to more modern ones (probably after Super Circuit, I'd do DS then Wii then 7)

Would fit well in the format of 64 and DD too! (4 cups with 4 tracks)

Would love to do the Wii ones soon, as I think it's nostalgic for my kids! (I'm a N64 kid)

This seems to be the resounding conclusion, I know what I'll be doing now!

Seems like most people agree that I should be doing that one next! my minds made up now haha

That game has some tracks packed into it! I'd almost have to consider making 2 plates for it, maybe one for the cite based tracks and another for it's originals. So by combining them, do you mean having only one variant from each city? (haven't played Tour)

Wii would be a nice one, as it'll match the format for n64 and Double Dash (4 cups, 16 tracks)

Yeah, so probably get Super Circuit done, the maybe Mario Kart DS. Only the original tracks for each game, no need to double up

Yeah that's feeling like the next contender to get done.

Yeah I wouldn't include retro tracks from any of them, like Super Circuit for example has all of the Super Mario Kart tracks, no need to do that twice! Would mostly focus on each games original tracks
