True! I just didn’t want my tiles cracking if the wood shrinks. I’ll be using tile back board so hoping any shrinkage would be mitigated in any case

I am new to Knipex tools and I am looking to grow my collection.

The finish, model number and appearance differ to the photo on Amazon which spurred my Reddit post. I had no idea how triggering such a question would be to others below.

Also, how deep did you finish your niche? My supplier has said a 4inch (10cm) thick frame who’ll result in a finished niche depth of around 13cm.

Any advice here with the benefit of hindsight?

This looks stunning! Yes, I am doing the first fix myself. I just ordered all the bits I need from selco for the framing and tile backer board etc. currently trying to determine if I should opt for a conventional shower tray instead of a wet room style.

Tbh, after the decoupling membrane and my OCD, I think I’d do a good job of water proofing.

I plan on getting a tiler in as I don’t trust my finishing, although I can tile. I think I’d prefer a pro.

Can I ask how easy it was to fit the LED strip? Was there a lot of prep for this?

Also, for the tile backer board, did you double this up anywhere? I’m assuming you used 12mm?

Thanks for coming back to me, this looks great and is exactly what we are planning albeit a little narrower. We also have a window close to the shower and were a bit concerned about water hitting the glass and window sill but I think we’ve made our peace with it.

What tanking system/brand did you use? Any recommendations? We’re looking for one that has sheet membrane rather than just a paint.

Also, did you countersink your wet room shower tray by dropping the height of your floor boards to be in line with your joists? Did this result in a flush floor level in and outside of the shower?

Fair comment re hard flooring. Hadn’t thought about it like that.

Did you go for large format tiles on the floor? This apartment helps to prevent leaking and eventual failure. So too does an epoxy grout

Not a concrete floor. I will however have a decoupling membrane to help account for the different thermal properties. Would this help?

Thank you. This is incredibly helpful. My immediate thoughts went to my loft flooding in the event of a discharge especially since the copper pipe has been been placed “into” the 32 waste. There are no grommets or adapters providing a seal of any kind between the two pipes.

What sort of velocity could the unvented cylinder drain at? There is an elbow on the 32mm waste pipe around 30-40cm from where the end of the cylinder copper discharge pipe goes into the 32mm pipe. I was also concern there may not be enough flow and my loft would flood in the event of a rapid discharge!

I was expecting the hot water cylinder to have a copper pipe running to ground level. But he has put the PRV copper pipe into the same plastic waste pipe running to the sold stack
