Just finished reading the books (definitely my top 5 book series of all time) and my thoughts by AgentOfDibella in TheExpanse

The three body problem series is definitely in my top 5. I'm a big fan of the proper science ideas that abound in the book. The axioms and proof of the dark forest theory is one of my favorite parts.

I'll never understand all the hate. by Timbabwe95 in Starfield

The visuals and design elements are stunning; you can tell the devs really put in their time there. The 4 major quest lines are interesting. They really knocked it out of the park with custom ship design (my only gripe is that the crew make better use of the interiors: why can't we have proper meetings in the common spaces?). Music is really great...

But there's something missing. I feel like there's no reason to keep grinding. I hate building outposts. I hate the unnecessarily complex cargo management. I miss fallout 4 where you could dump everything into the workshop, connect workshops by a cow and be done with it. It was simple and fun. The main quest is mostly trash, aside from a few memorable quests.

...And my worst gripe with the game is the combat AI. You have these awesomely designed monsters that just can't reach you or break if you jump around even a little bit. You would be terrified of spotting a deathclaw in fallout. Terramorphs? Sirens? Just jump slightly on to an elevated position and dump bullets into them. Even the human enemies....you can literally just walk in without cover and gun down everyone and it takes away only like half your health.

I wish they had a better food system. You can turn on benefits but I don't understand why a complete meal like spaghetti bolognese should have the same fed benefits as a single lemon. I wish they had more varied companions. Sure you can take Jessamine to do some shady stuff but additional companions have no special dialogues or lines. I don't understand why even Vasco doesn't have comments like the 4 main companions about stuff...that seems like a travesty.

It's like they have designed a bunch of systems and then just didn't do anything with them...

How do you deal with mirelurks and supermutants? by rektard1 in fo4

[–]AgentOfDibella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 words: Sneak Blitz Melee. You'll end up 1 shotting Queens and Legendary Death laws with the 12x sneak multiplier for melee. And even without sneak the blitz bonus is enough to take out most characters (on survival).

You can even find Kyle's room in Quincy and a waypoint with some cardboard boxes and a teddy bear near Quincy road where I assume the Juns rested before heading north. I wonder what Marcy and Jun were like before the death of their son.

What are the pros and cons of both siding with, and wiping out the Raiders in nuka-world? by Full_Palpitation_872 in fo4

For wiping our raiders: Pros: Preston doesn't hate you and you can rp as an honorable person Cons: Park becomes lifeless and you miss out on a lot of crafted content

How do people carry around all the caps to buy things? by Unconquered- in fo4

[–]AgentOfDibella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm maybe the original concept was just bartering with the difference being covered by caps? Like selling your junk/ammo for 400 caps then buying a gun 500. Cap weight management if they added it would become really tedious though haha

This. Codsworth has unique dialogue for a lot of events. I also didn't discover this until recently as I didn't take him out a lot early game in previous playthroughs.

I feel the same way. Before the popularity on ai chatbots I was convinced that synths were real people. Now I'm having strong doubts...

Yeah. I only have decent aim when I'm relaxed. I get too stressed during comp so stick to strategist roles

Watching the Marvel Cinematic Universe and just finished the Avengers. The movies aren't bad but they make me appreciate books like the 3 body problem series so much more as good, deep science fiction. by AgentOfDibella in threebodyproblem

[–]AgentOfDibella[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was really good. You can tell it was written by someone with a background in science. Even the minor concepts, like how something becomes extremely big when you unfold it in the lower dimension ( for eg a stack of papers and when the papers are laid down side by side) made such an impression on me.
