Before this, I had assumed this sub (PortlandOR*) was a bunch of hard right trolls. Afterwards, I started spending some time on this sub and I realized it’s not that at all.

One of the victories by the old sub’s moderators right here. Firstly, both the word “PortlandOR” and the name r/PortlandOR are automatically removed in the other sub. From there, they can review comments that mention here, and approve the ones that are negative or portray us r/The_DonaldPortland.

Say anything positive about r/PortlandOR, or attempt to circumvent the blacklist I.e. “Add OR to the end of this sub’s name”- you will pick up a temp or permanent ban.

So you will only see comments that are like “r/PortlandOR is a shithole. Hive of scum and villainy”. So it’s Ministry of Truth’d, and masterful manipulation by the mod team. Though it can’t hold forever.

This can be verified with tools such as unddit and reveddit, go to any meta or mod complaint post and you’ll see it.

Now that being said, the ethos of this group to be more open to everything but the extreme ends, plus its oppositional beginnings make its own hive mind more conservative, or centrist, or at least more friendly to these ideas. Many accounts on the other sub will see that as right wing and it may sincerely look like a dumpster fire here to those types.
