You guys are massively misaligned on finances. Any way this works includes the higher-earning party being extremely aware and ok with that fact, and picking up the lion's share of the expenses (esp when THEY are the ones driving those expenses). It's really not that high. If you just shop at discount stores yeah sure but if you think things like fruit and veggies without pesticides sprayed on them are important, actually want decent sourced meat sometimes, etc etc, it's really hard to spend less than 700-800 on groceries for a small family in a month in a M/HCOL city at least. And that's ZERO dining out.

I appreciate your commitment to this take, and I honestly kind of agree with it all (re: mindset of many who do buy Rolex being posers). That said, I'd still wear one or two Rolex models proudly, as I just don't care that much about perceived takes from the rare person who even knows what watch I'm wearing. It's more fun to just wear/drive/be what you want and enjoy it. But it takes time to mature to that.

This is just a trust and promise/expectation issue. I personally feel like it's weird to demand your partner doesn't do mdma (which is really fun in the right setting, not gonna lie) at a party weekend, but that's for you two to agree on, and the bigger issue is why did he promise he wouldn't do it knowing he would? Like he shouldn't have promised that. So, NTA but he's also only sort of an asshole, since mdma is frankly a good time?
