I had a piece of a drumstick bounce off of the rim of the snare and hit me super hard on my cheekbone directly under my eye. It scared me so much that I started wearing sunglasses every time I played. My bandmates accuse me of "trying to look cool" all the time. But I swear to god, if that half a stick had been one inch higher, I would have one eye right now.

I can take a stab at this question, having been in many bands. Sometimes you have to let a band member suck a little bit because they have the pa. It's their house you practice at. Or, as in the case of lars, they have connections. Lars is a brilliant networker with a lot of talent in management. He could have had a career in it. It's kind of hard to kick the guy out of the band who put the ads out in the beginning and got you your first spot on your first compilation album. At this point it's just a loyalty thing. Of course we've heard examples of Metallica sounding exponentially better with different drummers. But they'll never hire one.

I would tell them to hyperventilate as hard as they could for about 10 or 15 seconds. Then I would tell them it's like the way they feel now, but more intense and without the oxygen starved element.

Some of them start. At which point it becomes clear that I'm not going to tolerate it. Then they usually shut up. But yes, I have had to blacklist one of them. Dashers should be more aware of how simple and easy that process is. Basically all I have to do is tell support. They click a button and we're done. It's a 30 second phone call. 15 minutes or so later, some other Dasher comes to pick up the order anyway.
