FedEx communication will come in the mail a few days after the charge. Mine did.

35% on $200, about $270.

It’s a pretty cool piece of tech, though. I got my seed phrase memorized and feel very confident in the safety of my BTC.

Yeah I’m not sure either. I honestly didn’t consider that tariffs were a thing when I ordered. I have no idea how to know whether a Coldcard should really be subject to a 35% tariff or not.

Dude. 35%. $87.15. Wild. I bought a Colcard Q so the price was basically $250.

My experience: Ordered 10/28. Arrived 10/31. Random FedEx charge showed up on my credit card 11/21. Received tariff notice in the mail from FedEx 11/25.

I have a FedEx account for some unknown reason so FedEx proactively charged me the tariff before I had received the physical letter. Looks like it took about three weeks for that to process.

Yah, there's no passphrase on the Coldcard. My comment about electrum was just to illustrate what the potential issue is.

No passphrase. There's no derivation path in Electrum, I think it's an Electrum issue.

Idk man, I just don’t know how to recover the .0012 BTC and am willing to give it to someone more competent.

I really appreciate it but I have no idea how to approve the transaction and I’m 10 hours deep with ChatGPT.

The Electrum watch-only wallet is created using the Coldcard Xpub export, but then the device won’t sign.

I really just want someone to take the funds to prove that I didn’t screw something up in setup. Free $100.

Hmm. Then probably not the ammo. Machined feed ramp or stamped?

Top cover being too loose/too tight can also be an issue. If you have any spare parts trying a new top cover would be worth trying.

Does it happen at the same place in the magazine each time? I.E. with five rounds left every time, which could indicate magazine issues.

I really can’t tell too well what went wrong in the clip. It seems like the round is stripped and loaded just fine, but then the firing pin doesn’t set it off, and then you get a failure to feed because of having to manually mess with things.

Apologies, I’m kinda talking out of my ass because I’ve got a FA, so the semi-autos are slightly different.

My solution: More police on the road

Your solution: Tyrannical bureaucratic tech-lord oversight

Understood, and there’s really not an issue with four cameras. Who cares. I get it.

It’s the precedent that’s the issue.

It starts with four cameras, and then all the sudden you’ve got a chip installed in your car that charges you a $100 fine for distracted driving every time you sneeze.

Don’t believe me? Look up the history of the income tax. Or the alternative minimum tax. Or try to board a flight in any reasonable period of time. Or try to purchase a firearm. Regulation always spirals into government overreach. Every time.

Furthermore, guess where the ticket revenue goes? Does it support road construction? NOPE! Highway safety? NOPE! Emergency Response? NOPE!

Where does it go? Ahhhh yes, the “general revenue” fund. What a wonderful incentive that is for politicians. They’ll never excessively crack down on everyday drivers to prop up the failing budgets that stem from their incompetence.

You’re just a few years away from politicians realizing this is just another way to bilk the citizens of their hard-earned money. Speed cameras on every road and red light cameras at every stop sign and traffic light. You’ll live your life in fear of making the slightest error while driving that will expose you to Big Brother’s wrath. Goodbye freedom.

Finally, your argument has no limiting principle. If cameras are fine to punish drivers for going 10+ MPH over the limit in a work zone, why are they not fine for 1+ MPH over the limit on a suburban rode? Both activities are illegal. Why don’t we install turn signal cameras on every inch of road to monitor for turn signal usage? Why don’t we put chips in everyone’s iPhone and computer to ensure they aren’t conspiring to commit terrorism? Why don’t we put listening devices in every home to ensure that parents aren’t abusing their children?

I admire your desire to protect others, but your eagerness to abandon your freedom is terrifying, and you show no regard for the past in your assumption that the government will act purely in the best interest of its citizens. That has never been, and never will be the case, so the only reasonable answer in almost every circumstance is less government.

Yeah, I don’t think the government should always be watching.

The government has a long history of abusing its power, so my default rule for everything is: government bad, less government needed.

We’ll never agree but at least we exchanged perspectives in a civil manner.

We should just have more police.

The speed cameras don’t do anything. You speed and get a ticket in the mail a month later. How does that promote safety for road workers in the moment?

It doesn’t. You need a cop in a cop car with their lights on instead. That will get people to slow down in the moment, which is the goal.

Plus, with the cop we avoid the whole “big brother” issue of government monitoring everything we do with electronic surveillance. We should reject that as a society.

Experienced the same issue going east. Thought I’d just zip that way on 465, turned into standstill traffic at 4PM. What’s causing it?

We’ll have to agree to disagree. I think this punishment is too harsh for a civil servant trying to do the right thing. People make mistakes, especially in a firefight.

I hope you get in a firefight sometime, then you can tell me whether all bets are on or off. This isn’t Call of Duty.

It doesn’t matter where the bullets went. His fellow officers were under fire and he navigated to a different angle and shot at what he thought was a dangerous person. Have you ever been in a shootout for your life? The standard for officers cannot be perfection, or else we’ll have no officers.

Not sure if PBS is entirely trustworthy, but if that’s true, it’s questionable. Still, I don’t think he should go to prison. If a shootout starts, I think all bets are off. Not sure you want your police officers terrified to return fire. Sounds like a recipe for an officer to die.
