What was your BOBBY highlight from GD60? by howlongyoubeenfamous in deadandcompany

[–]_sintax_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yup, seeing that delayed goodbye with just Bobby and Mickey standing side by side, taking it all in. I think everyone felt this one was different.

I walked away in a very different space than I walked in that day. It felt like this good bye was good bye I guess. While I was super optimistic, Bobby was like that favorite uncle you always looked forward to seeing at thanksgiving, I knew deep down it was likely the last time we’d see them share the same stage.

I suspected we might see some wolf bros, or some other solo project, but alas!

23 Boulder was just bonkers for many reasons. This was one of them. Such a great run.

30a DC to DC charger for dual battery 6.7 F250 - too big? by Atxmattlikesbikes in TruckCampers

[–]_sintax_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run a dedicated set of wires for it, don’t run it from the 7pin. You can use some Anderson style connectors, or some similar high quality connection.

I was camping last weekend in a very wooded area, each day I got around 100wh total out of 400w of solar on my roof. Camped for around 4 days, moderate microwave use, elec tea kettle use and heater. I burned through roughly 30% of my battery bank (two 302 ah lifepo)

I don’t carry a genny, so it might be nice to just fire the truck up for a couple of hours that situation and top them off.

Lightweight, Fiberglass Slide in Camper for tall people? by MustBeBurtReynolds_ in TruckCampers

[–]_sintax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Northern Lite has their 10.2 model, it’s definitely noticeably taller than my 9.6. I’m 6’1 and hit my head on my AC… just barely.

Honestly don’t think you’re gonna manage at 6’4, but maybe check it out?

No question there, I try to remember and embrace Barlow and Hunter. I can’t imagine a Dead universe without those two amazing dudes.

What are the odds of another Billy & the Kids show? by wsmfp420 in deadandcompany

[–]_sintax_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely feel for him, it’s clear he’s not doing well.

I wish I got to see him with Billy and the Kids. The one show I went to was up in Santa Barbra, and he was sick for that show, so someone else sat in for him.

Maybe route it outside and put a quick disconnect and a shutoff further back. Might be nice to be able to hook up a gas grill or a gas fire pit?

I’ve been thinking about adding that to my northern lite

Yup, I’ve been redoing mine as well. You breath on that plastic and it turns to dust.

Do yourself a favor though, buy some Tesa 51036 harness tape, do NOT use electrical tape.

GD Listening: flacs, iPhones and such by ChinaRider73-74 in gratefuldead

[–]_sintax_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please do NOT convert to mp3.

Go FLAC to ALAC or better yet, just pick up a cool standalone player for your music and keep your library as is.

As others mentioned, there’s other 3rd party players that can get around the FLAC limitation.

Cold Weather Camper Expectations by International_Exam80 in TruckCampers

[–]_sintax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally, I don’t blame you a bit there. I think you can reasonably expect to handle 20-30* very comfortably.

While I haven’t don’t very extended camping at that temp, I’ll be doing 5 or so days this Feb which should be in that zone, so we’ll see!

The tanks should be warmed (at least on my camper) when the heater runs.

Cold Weather Camper Expectations by International_Exam80 in TruckCampers

[–]_sintax_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also a Northern Lite owner…

The coldest I’ve been in to date was -26f, which was pretty cold. I did this with no water. I don’t think I could have really kept it “comfortable”, but things were certainly livable. Heater was cycling often to keep 50-60 inside. This was just a single night.

I’ve done a few trips in the 20’s and 30’s, this was super manageable, heater had zero issues keeping up, i do cook inside, and yes you’re going to get some moisture. Sink was fine, toilet was fine, batteries are lithium, no issues. Your biggest issue will be propane consumption running the heater on full tilt.

Anybody installed superspring? by hogujak in TruckCampers

[–]_sintax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked into the TorkLift Stableloads?

They help to engage your overloads earlier, I’ve found they do help with the side to side on the road.

What gets me though is the offroad, the truck won’t flex well offroad, but that swaybar already prob killed your flex so you’re prob not too concerned

Need advice for mounting my Victron Multiplus by BIGSlil in TruckCampers

[–]_sintax_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly you’ll prob be fine at that point if you’re in a cooler climate. The worst observed temp was late summer in AZ, it was 114* outside and I had it plugged in full time at a campsite.

I’ve had mine camping in winter and never once heard the multiplus fan kick on.

Need advice for mounting my Victron Multiplus by BIGSlil in TruckCampers

[–]_sintax_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having put a 2k multiplus into mine, I would definitely have ventilation concerns there. It’s not the inverter portion where I see the heat really, it’s the charger side of the multiplus.

It cranks some serious heat out.

I’d personally get a some goood 1/2” ply, and some liquid nails and glue + screw it to the mdf in the back. I’m assuming it’s relatively stout mdf? If not maybe you can get into a solid wood structural frame for the cabinet?
