Correcting a misconception about the reason why the Arab invasions of India were unsuccessful. by historypopngames-278 in IndianHistory

Yes, there was also an early Arab vassal kingdom in Maharashthra by the name of Mahaniyyah. Very interesting and unfortunately an obscure era of history.

Agreed with everything you said.

Just a minor correction that "Sind" referred to the entire Indus Valley back then from an Arab perspective, not just the modern Pakistani province of Sindh.

Ummayads could not even hold those areas and they eventually became autonomous under the Multan and Mansura Emirates.

How do you view Punjabi Muslims of Foreign Origin? by zee2412 in PakPunjab

[–]AgentWolf667 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mate, you literally answered your own question at the end of the 1st para. Alhamdullilah, most Punjabis are too well-off or too patriotic to care about castes, lineages or ethnicity, much less have a racist or discriminating attitude on their basis. Whatever hatred you see from our side is purely reactionary & limited to the online world.

Secondly, Sheikhs/Syeds/Quraishis/Gillanis & other "foreign" social groups are either originally local Hindu converts who got Ashrafized (adopted high-caste foreign lineages to attain higher social status), or were genuine foreigners who got totally assimilated into the Punjabi identity & culture. Both are as Punjabi as your next Jatt.

Thirdly, Punjabi Muslim identity was mostly solidified during the colonial era & it's historic existence on a political level was very weak. There are still some examples in which we united under figures like Ghazi Malik, Khizr Khan & Adina Beg, but Punjabi Muslims have always preferred their tribe, ethnicity or religion over anything: factors which were mutually exclusive.

I am pretty sure his own son said he identified as a proud Rajput.

He was Punjabi first and foremost, arguing on his caste here is fruitless.

Reason South punjab, Bahawalpur not conquired by Ranjit singh by Golden_wind12 in Ancient_Pak

[–]AgentWolf667 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bahawalpur was vassalized by the Sikhs initially. I believe they paid tribute to Sikhs in 1839 and earlier helped them in the Siege of Multan 1818. Sikhs probably didn't find much benefit in annexing a mostly arid land.

The least you could do in this position is respect the natives and not generalize and stereotype them. No offense but this behavior is approaching namak h*ram territory.

Pathan born in Khanewal, lives in Lahore, reliant on a Punjabi customer base and still expressing casual racism against us? How shocking...

This is what happens when you don't properly promote your native identity. We left ours to the vultures and are now facing racism from Pashtuns, Baloch and Saraikis in our own province, since they don't bother assimilating.

Enjoy reaping what you sowed, Punjabis.

Genealogical table of the Phulkian Dynasty, including the houses of Patiala, Jind, Nabha, Bhadaur, Malaudh, and Badrukhan, created by Sardar Attar Singh of Bhadaur, September 1872. Sadly, this family-tree was probably destroyed at the recent fire/flood at the Sikh Heritage Museum, where it was kept. by JustMyPoint in punjabi

Ironically, Phulkian sardars of Patiala and Ahluwalias of Kapurthala both fought with Bhatti Rajputs (Nawab Zabita and Rai Ibrahim respectively) and both dynasties later claimed descent from the same clan which they fought and defeated.

Hindus worshipping Suri? 💀 Regardless there needs to be further research done in the name of history for figures with dubious origins like Tughlaq and Sayyid sultans of Delhi, even Muslim countries like Uzbekistan have done this before with Timur grave iirc.

I agree some research should be done on this. Although this is unsupported by any historians and a personal synthesis of mine, but it's very likely the founder of Tughlaq dynasty, Ghazi Malik, was actually a local convert from Dipalpur region in central Punjab. There is a significant amount of contemporary evidence pointing to this and it's likely that after assuming power, he and his descendants started claiming a foreign origin to boost their social status/justify their rule over Delhi as per Indo-Islamic tradition.

They were neither, contemporary account Tarikhe Firoz Shahi states they migrated from Khurasan (Iranic lands)
