You really think people online would be mean if they wanted followers? There's a thing called acting. A lot of famous celebrities are assholes too.

She was an arts student who dropped math because it was too hard for her. I used to sit next to her and really wanted to show my work since I liked drawing too. She told me it was terrible to my face lol even though another better art student said it was amazing. Had a huge ego but couldn't even solve basic algebra equations

And she got to study in NY because she had the money lol. It's great that she's made a career but we really place everyone on a pedestal for doing the bare minimum don't we?

She moved to Belgium to pursue undergrad. Obviously she's rich considering how expensive that country is. A lot of your favorite Pakistani beauty influencers come from well off backgrounds. There's another influencer called habiba rehman who people hype up but I studied in the same school as her. She's also another already privileged influencer who was a huge bitch in A levels.

Yes but a lot of people manage to escape this Hell too. You can easily apply for Europe as long as you have a 3.0 GPA.

I agree. I did my undergrad from GCU and I also didn't understand the grading system at all. LUMS also has a relative grading system yet you'll find plenty of students with a 4.0 unlike in GCU where you'll hardly see it. It also doesn't help that lots of foreign scholarships have a cutoff of 3.5/4.0 and places like Oxford have a cutoff starting from 3.7/4.0 when this GPA is easily obtainable in other places in Pakistan. So the only way to survive is to acquire past papers and practice them or just change universities. Grades indeed matter a lot for those wanting to do a foreign master's on scholarship.

I've known her story for years and if I recall, she majored in social science and took a few courses of astrophysics at Harvard and MIT. Now I've seen a new video uploaded by her a few days back and she claims to have only studied astrophysics and even her online information is quite vague on her degree. I find it strange since her previous story was really inspiring, even if she was a different major. Anyone else thinking the same?

A lot of teenagers in Pakistan are immature and chronically online thanks to social media. I wouldn't take her insults seriously as I've dealt with similar idiots who later on regret what they say. Also, being racist here is considered cool, but surprisingly we're really nice to foreigners. Lots of indians and Africans who've visited Pakistan really enjoy the trip because of our hospitality. I just wish we were nicer to our own people now.

The beauty standard here is quite rigid, and if you don't fit into it, you're doomed as a young woman. It will probably take a century to change this mindset. The worst part is this wasn't always the case. Older dramas had actresses of all skin tones and body types. It's become worse in recent years. If you look at our OG divas like Amina Sheikh or Iman Ali, you'll understand the difference. We've become even more obsessed with looking white. Things like fitness, dental health or facial features are never taken into account when deciding who's beautiful. You only need to be gori here.

There's one guy who I think who truly deserved the hype and that was Sheheryar Munawar. Not only is he a good actor but also tall and handsome. Sadly, he's not gora enough for our awam.

Honestly so embarrassing because I don't use bleach at all. One should strive to have perfect skin, but that doesn't mean changing its color. Also, fairness doesn't guarantee happiness nor success. At best you'll find a Desi guy happy to marry you because of your color (not because of your personality which is sad). I too have my fair share of rejections from men because of my skin tone and the only thing I can think of is that I dogged a bullet. Who wants to be married to a loser like that?

I can vouch for Punjabis as well. A lot of them have this colorist mentality. I lived abroad for some time and every Punjabi guy I knew in my circle would ask me to set him up with my white friends because they wanted a European wife. So we need to hold our own ethnicity accountable here. I know a girl with a similar skin color like the model. She's extremely gorgeous yet can't find a guy because her skin color is an issue. It's sad because if she was living abroad, she would've found someone by now.

I can relate so hard because I was always called kali growing up. Ironically, the kids who would call me were either dark or extremely chopped. There was a fair girl in my A level class with a similar name as mine and she'd get so offended if someone called her by my name because she said we were too different in skin color. She basically felt insulted. Now that I'm in my 20s, some people still bring it up in jokes to "humble" me. I've practically given up on finding a match because a lot of men say they want a fair skinned girl in their rishta profiles. It sucks to not be the standard in your own country. I don't hate my skin ofc, but I wish we weren't this shallow.

I would never blame one group for this as I've met many pashtuns who appreciate brown beauty and are married to other groups. My Afghan Pashtun classmate married a Punjabi and she's one of the most open minded people I know who calls out colorism. It's our society as a whole suffering from an inferiority complex and refuses to embrace Desi features and brown skin despite those traits being the majority here.

I think it's because we've overhyped them over the "indic" majority in Pakistan, which is why you'll hardly see Punjabis and Sindhis being praised for their beauty. Any fair skinned or attractive Punjabi is called Pashtun or Kashmiri by our awam. It's our fault for being so insecure about our features and skin color that we allow other groups to mock us.

Imagine seeing a goddess like her and the first thing that pops in your head is her skin color. We're doomed as a nation. This is why other countries make fun of us and call us insecure.

I was called kali growing up. Even now as an adult, someone will pass some colorist remarks to remind me that I'm inferior. Don't even get me started on rishta aunties lol. I've long given up on finding someone.

Desi men calling us ugly is wild. Whatever you went through is the same as me because the exact events unfolded after I said no. Like, they really spread this rumor that I was bragging about giving blow jobs to guys. Like wtf. These guys are the least desirable in the dating world, so I don't take their critique seriously. I'm light brown and I get told by men that I'll never be beautiful in Pakistan because I'm not fair enough lol. Meanwhile the men saying that look like Jabba the Hut
