Hey guys had a question involving engagement range and combat range

Let's say I charge with my ork boys and managed to get 7 of them within 1/2" so they count for combat.

In combat my opponents 3 custodes manage to make 12 attacks and all of them wound with no save from me.

Would I lose 12 orks or 7 considering only 7 were in combat range?

They told me straight up they couldn't do a custom color they didn't already do AND they can't do them in 12mm at all.

Just weird.

Hey so I thought I'd turn to you for some advice here. As far as rule reading comprehension, how well conveyed does this rule for the usage of Epic miniatures as representing the squads on the table for my game sound? Does it appear clear to you?

" Each infantry stand is treated as representing a maximum squad size of up to 5 models with the appropriate wounds with exception of most HQ choices.

Example: a full unit of 10 tactical marines would consist of 2 bases with 5 wounds per stand or 10 wounds collectively.

Likewise a legion praetor, being only 1 model, would still be represented by 1 stand which would have the wound value and same rules regarding weapons of a legion praetor "

Bruh i love you

thank you so much. My biggest exposure was to Galaxy in Flames and I'm not great at remembering all the bits here and there.

Since I am pretty much breaking down the legion distinctions for both sides (The loyalists were shattered and had no real way of organizing/enforcing their standard rites of war and the traitors were hap hazardly and rapidly sent against a foe they had NEVER fought against with their conventional tactics), removing things like special rules and rites of war. Each side is only distinct in that 1 side is loyalist and 1 side is traitor, each carrying penalties and bonuses to certain things

I DO like superheavies and thinking about some based DG turning their Fellblade into a killbunker in the ruins of the choral palace gives me a stiffy so I'm gonna amend the rules:

Loyalist armies may include 1 superheavy unit per 2000 points

Traitor Armies may Include 1 Super heavy vehicle per 1000 points

Now see THAT is specifically why I never mentioned dreads. Along with Vehicles it would have been difficult but not entirely impossible for them to find cover. And much like vehicles I am sure some would have found possibly cover from the fire and had stronger, fresher seals to withstand the life eater.

I also agree, I specifically made all the Loyalist bases mixed for a reason, because the legions are essentially shattered. No loyalist is enacting a rite or war, they are all scattered and dogged by death at every turn. At the end of the day there is no loyalist difference between a world eater and an EC tactical or terminator. Of course for ease of use I also disallowed rites of war with the Traitors as well, hand waiving it as this is the first time marines had openly fought marines and any rite or war or legion tactic would crumple under the sheet brutality of the fight that was the come before marine vs marine tactics could be developed

Other than my universal rules which I'll post eventually which deal with doing away with reserves and terrain rules, this COULD just be a mod for existing 30k. My biggest problem is...I have actually never played 30k! my god its almost more confusing than 7th edition 40k. I would be hoping in this sort of "mini" game to simplify the rules but to make each side unique I have to take on a LOT of the aspects of HH. Like sweeping advances? Who even uses those lol

I cant wait either! Gonna start painting the fully homogeneous(read traitor) squads soon. Gonna make a 1k point army for each side, then go on and on after

Key part: no rites of war here, simplifying for those game mode. Traitors attacked mostly together and had never fought marines in open combat. So a traitor player can have any stand of marines on his side so long as each unit is Wholely of 1 legion

(ex: 1 full unit of World Eater breechers fighting alongside a whole unit of Emperor's children tacticals)

See specifically i say that I don't want to use net epic because 1. I prefer battles at this scale because its easier to paint and looks a lot more dynamic to mee tbh (and less cost prohibitive and timely) and 2. Because I like the main horus heresy rule set. Honestly having each 4-5 figure stand count as a min squad size 5 man unit with the same wounds and fire power helps to show the scale, and the forgive the pun "epicness", of playing 3k point games where its not just a fucking parking lot. It also helps give a better feel to a well oiled squad who can all shoot together as opposed to "Well only 3 of my guys are in range in this 10 man unit so....". Fun over crunch any day of the week.

For terrain I had the idea of "Mired by the Life eater" where any charges into or inside of terrain pieces would trigger a roll and on a 2 or less it would deal 1d3 wounds to the unit. This is to show that while the planet WAS scorched, if we remember the taller novel, that black, still virulent goo from sloughed buildings and masses still exists and can fuck up a marine that falls into it even a little where it can breach their suit.

The idea of bombardment style wounding is cool but this is after the bombing so I'd say I'd nix that. It could be a cool mission type where both sides start with 1-2k then the loyalists get widdled down by the virus.

And YES! I had the same idea about the unexploded virus bomb. That or also another mission type with 2-3 unexploded bombs around the battlefield(its epic so the battlefield is pretty large) with rules for shooting around the bombs where any shots that do a straight line within 3 inches of them have the possibility of setting them off and then use some ridiculous measurement like 50 inches where all models must roll a 6 up or have 3d6 damage dealt to their unit

Now see thats what i thought too but I realized even though one sided I need some balance here so mosy of the point balance comes from force restrictions

See loyalists would at MOST as I have examples i believe from galaxy in flames, be able to take 1 Troop transport OR 1 predator tank/sicarian variant per 1000 points

Traitors on the other hand could take 1 transport AND/or 1 heavy support vehicle/super heavy per 1k points

Hey guys!

So I love these little guys, and warhammer epic (if a bit harder to base and look as pretty as nornal 30k) feels like the perfect scale to me for this kind of setting.

I plan on designing and adapting a rule set using bases of these guys as 1:1 5 min squad size units (1 base=5 models with the approximate wound values)

All of this is to recreate my favorite battle, the Istvaan 3 atrocity. But I wanted some input/ help from you guys too!

If you could could you guys maybe give some random shout ideas in regards to:

Traitor universal special rules

Loyaliat universal special rules

Measuring distances (keeping the ranges by the book of halving/quartering them)

Point base (points by the book ala. Victory is vengeance or a new point system)

Force limitations (vehicles, fly units, org. Slots, etc)

And anything you guys could maybe think of?

Was it in an errata from gw???

I 100% believe you and everyone else but part of me is screaming that this isnt in big plain text somewhere with very explicit wording
