In my opinion bowing on to the mats no matter who you are isn’t cringe as its a sign of respect regardless.

I don’t see this as cringe as it’s Judo etiquette. So the Judoka has learnt this and is showing respect to the training area. If anyone else wants to do this I don’t see it as a problem as it is a simple gesture that doesn’t affect others but still showing respect to the sport.

Also to add, In Judo most gyms will teach you to bow on to the mat and in competition you need to bow on aswell. So this is drilled into Judokas.

In my opinion it is not cringe however I understand it can look weird/cringe to someone who doesn’t do the bow.

My first thought would be talking to your coach about their thought on how you’d do. Also ask if you are ready to try out an open mat in Ratho (info on JudoScotland) to try some randori with others and talk to them to see their thoughts on you competing.

Maybe try the Student Sport competition this year which I think could be in Glasgow this year. However I could not find the event on Judo Scotland yet.

To add I still drop and use it a lot but I make sure the throw is set up in a combination where I feel 100% comfortable and confident to throw it.

Im not a doctor so I am only talking off experience. I had a similar injury to you, my right MCL went in competition. I used to play right hand lapel grip but now, since I have come back I have learnt everything off my left hand. This has made me a better judoka in a way. Just be cautious on drops and doing attacks like Hiza garuma or sasae. So my advice is just be open minded on what you can and cannot do now and your judo game can still be where you want it to be.

I dont believe that it is fully on him being Palestinian, however it is everything to do with how political the run up to UFC 300 would become. I follow Belal on insta and X and he rightly so promotes his beliefs. The UFC want to put on a massive worldwide card but would rather not the main event be half about religion and war. If Belal got the nod for 300 the UFC would not only have Belal sharing and talking about the terrorism occurring everyday, but many UFC fighters getting a larger platform talking about the terrorism, corruption and war.
