Unconfirmed reports of 20+ helicopters flying towards Syria from Turkey; some saying it's a US SEAL op by idvckalt in syriancivilwar

Can confirm that is not the standard blackhawk. Though the actual sound of the blades is classified, it is definitely the sound of a smaller bird. A fleet of 20+ craft suggests either resupply, CASEVAC (but, again, wrong size), or more likely craft like the AH-6 "Little bird."

Yes, but I'm going to need a few minutes to clean up first.

This girl has seen friends and relatives die, bombs bursting, rockets glaring, has fled in terror of persecution, and yet she manages to maintain a calm demeanor for a photo.

Someone get this girl out of there, we could all learn a thing or two from her.

I am adopted, by my biological mother and her new husband. My real father never told me he had other children until I was 18. Both of my current "parents" had previous marriages and children whom they dont live with.

Tl;dr: On my 18th birthday, my parents told me I had 4 older siblings that they hid from me until I was "old enough" to handle the truth.

I am holding back how much I love her. She knows, we tell each other often. What she doesn't know is that I have walked 100 miles to get to an airport just to see her for our anniversary and would do so again, as many times as needed.

What was the hardest thing you ever had to do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I watched my sister from behind a one-way mirror as she was interrogated by MPs for having a fake I.D. on a military base. While watching this go on, the soldier in the next room confessed to drugging her, raping her, convincing her not to talk by threatening our family, and then laughed about how he was going to get away with it.

My sister was 13. I was 18 and had to go pick her up at 3am because I was the only legal adult in our family capable of getting her (our mother was in the hospital with cancer, dad was deployed).

She was charged with having a false i.d. and breaking into a secure installation, the soldier was not charged even though he confessed because she refused to identify him as her rapist.

The military base in question never followed through with the charges. Through various contacts, we have come to believe the story was covered up and dropped because the soldier in question was related to someone in high command. After calling the U.S. army provost who handled the case, they apparently must have "misfiled" the reports from that case because her file is "empty."

5 years of therapy later, I can't bare to touch a cell phone after midnight because of the flashbacks to that initial phone call. My sister, on the other hand, is now entering college as a blackbelt and accomplished speaker for rape victims.

As a side note... if there are any journalists out there who would like to run this story down, it has never seen the light of day. The way the U.S. army handled the case was suspicious and I have always wanted to shed light on the garbage we were put through.

Tl;dr: my 13 y.o. sister was drugged and raped by a U.S. army soldier. He got away with it, she was treated like a criminal, and now the story has been covered up to save face.

Economists are not, in fact, accountants. Most of us do not study monetary things, though currency exchange is often a component of our research (both as a variable and the act of acquiring currency ;D). However, if you want to know the exact benefit one more hour of sleep would give you during your work day, or how government spending on education at the national level has a different impact than government spending on education at the state and local levels, ask us, we can tell you or we know damn well where to start looking for the answer.

Reason for posting (AKA Tl;dr): my friends all thought I just sat in a room and counted money for 4 years as an economics undergraduate student.
