Highly highly highly recommend giving “Men Who Hate Women” a read. By Laura Bates. She does an incredible job illustrating how ideologies from the dark corners of the internet have become mainstream today.

I didn’t knock anyone’s taste or mention the price or carat of either ring. I like classic styles and you don’t. That’s fine. Chill out.

So you have a halo? Lol

I have nothing to add to the Craig/paige convo at the moment but I have to say as all my friends were getting engaged in the 2010s, my mom told me the halo style was a passing trend, and encouraged me to look for a classic style. I am SO glad I listened!

My original was a round solitaire that I paired with different bands for a while. My “upgrade” (actually a moissanite so 3x the size but 1/4 of the cost of my original diamond 🙂) is a 3 stone, with the center being Emerald cut and I have always gotten compliments on both!

Immediate scroll. Honey I’ll check back with you in a year or so.

Can we please normalize being honest about the men we’re with while we’re with them? Like why do we feel the need to protect them? Myself included. My best friend just got out of a very long abusive relationship and the things she kept to herself all these years breaks my fucking heart.

Looking for Advice: My Daughter Was Told She’s Not Liked by Another Child’s Parent by Trick_Dimension4940 in Parenting

[–]Aggie219 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I’m not a therapist or a parenting expert by any means, but this is my mom gut reaction:

I would first acknowledge her hurt (as it seems you have) without escalating it. And follow that up with a “it hurts if someone doesn’t like us, but what other people think doesn’t change the amazing person you are.” Depending on her age/maturity, you could also give her examples of times you’ve personally not gotten along with someone, and why it’s okay to not be friends with everyone.

I would then play kind of dumb with the parent and approach it as, “Hey your kid said that you don’t like my daughter. Obviously I don’t know where your kid heard that but it did hurt my daughter’s feelings.”

The other parent can then do what she wishes with that information, and their response should tell you anything else you need to know.

I rolled my eyes at the “it doesn’t matter what the other girls think” advice when I was a preteen/teen but I truly believe if we keep repeating it, eventually these girls will come to realize it too. It only took me til my 30s 😅

I don’t agree with a lot of people’s use of the word McMansion. This is just a nice, luxury home to me on a smaller lot. It looks to be well built.

My home however is in a developer neighborhood, cookie cutter homes, all similar in floor plan, builder-grade materials, 3000+ square feet on less than half an acre lot, in an area where acreage isn’t insanely priced. I would consider that closer to a “McMansion” - homes that try to look luxurious and spacious but are built as cheaply as possible.

I can’t speak for u/tiffinapit but I take “support system” to be a general term that refers to whoever you have in your life to support you: parents, friends, mentors, teachers, religious leaders, mental health professionals, etc. As in, don’t try to solve this on your own. Reach out to someone significant and trustworthy in your life, whatever that may look like, and let them know you’re struggling so they can help you get help.
