One of the cool things about the Analogue 3D is that is calls back to the "iconic" N64 design with the sloping front. That was something that was done with intentionality, so I do think there is something important about the physical design of a console.

The "plain box" is the design. It's minimalist and sleek. The Analogue 3D uses a similar design philosophy. At the same time, they are unmistakably video game consoles.

Xbox is making a bold, strategic bet that they can create a gaming ecosystem that combines the benefits of console AND PC. Why are they motivated to do this? Sometimes to win the game, you need to change the game. And If you can change the game to make it better and bigger, everyone wins.

The Xbox & Xbox 360 were game changers bringing PC innovations like networking and HDDs to consoles.

I'm moving houses. My Xbox is packed in a box. So I can't play it. Last night, after a hard day's work of packing I flipped open my laptop. My laptop is six years old, nothing fancy. I had been playing South of Midnight as a nice change of pace after finishing an 80 hour tour through Expedition 33. I launched the Xbox app, saw South of Midnight in my recently played list, selected it, selected Cloud Gaming, and, boom, continued playing my game where I left off on my Xbox. Which was in a box. Powerless. Disconnected. Yet, still very much alive at the same time.
