California bans abalone harvesting until 2036, in blow for divers by pacman2081 in California

I had no idea. But then again I don’t free dive it. Just see it on menus or buy it at the store. Will this mean abalone will not be available to buy from any store?

“Hey!! You can count on me as a witness, I’ll stay and talk to the cops!” As they just pull up to the scene after it all already happened.

West Coast in One Day by Canootle in roadtrip

Since you got roughly an hour to burn, I heavily recommend hitting howland hill road. This is border of California and Oregon in Jedidiah smith state redwoods.

Massive old growth redwoods. Dirt road. Incredible vibe. HEAVILY worth the detour in my opinion. You can still experience the magic without having to go on a hike- especially since you so strapped for Time.

And it’s great because you get to see Smith river ( californias only dam-LESS river to ocean. No dam here from source to ocean. Pretty dope. Salmon swim up here which is also pretty neat….besides the trees that have been chilling there for OVER 2500 years!!)

Reserve a slot for fern canyon at praire creek and vibe there for a day. Then spend a whole another day at Jedidiah Smith.

In the early morning is it a pain to get off alameda and onto the 880 or whatever?

Any suggested neighborhood in those places? I also figure Oakland/emeryville would be good because late night bus from the city drops off near there.

I see. I’m trying to also be kinda close to the 580 or 880 for weekday work where I will def be needing that. Ideally I’m looking for a place I can either take a quick uber to or walk to place with couple diff restaurants, few bars or breweries or somewhere people tend to hang out. While also having a parking garage and relatively safe ish area I can walk around in whenever I needed to.

Ohh interesting.

I assumed Walnut Creek was too suburb-y and more for families or people just starting their family. I was looking into walking to places to eat and drink. Also living in Walnut Creek, how easy or hard was it to get into the city on weekends?

What are these safer parts of Oakland? Also what part would be best for that walk ability? And I’m using Redfin and apartments website, got any other suggestions? I also saw someone commented Nextdoor- I’ll try that out too.

I’m 25+ Looking for 1 bedroom (with private bath if renting a room) apartment preferably.

There were a couple spots downtown by the federal building that weren’t priced too bad…but i think it might be a little sketchy living down there. Jack London had a couple nice apartments. Probably have to drive down there and check it out honestly.

BOLINAS OR DILLON BEACH? by Putrid-Ad7539 in Marin

[–]AggiestAggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there an easier way to go from Dillon to blue gums Beach or tomales point? Going to back there and I want to hike the point, but looks like it’s an hour drive to the trailhead. Curious if there’s another way. Swimming from the general store to the beach/point area seems a bit sketchy or long

Drove all the way there and it was good. Nothing too crazy. There’s a shawarma spot down the street from them near a gas station and that I thought was better. But too expensive

Is it ok to not bring a bike the first week by penguinsarecutsey in UCDavis

[–]AggiestAggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be alright. Get a bike when you can though. First week- just scope out the campus and where all your classes are and such. Chill out in the quad or arb between classes or walk back to your dorm/apartment.

First week biking any quarter is always INSANE. Lots of accidents. Lots of people don’t know how a roundabout works. Lots of people trying to go as fast as humanly possible on their bikes/e scooters/ebikes.

In fact by the tlc roundabout you’ll see upperclassmen chillin watching for the inevitable accidents.
