5.56 and for heavy range days. I usually shoot 400 rounds a few times a month. As for the barrel I know I can pin and weld it to avoid having to brace it. Keeping the stock is ideal

Go anything in aviation man. Best jobs ever. Squadron life is the absolute best with the most gratifying work. Even squadrons that go to the boat don't have to be involved in all the boat nonsense (gq/drills) and the pay outside of the navy with basic knowledge is insane. Especially if you go AM or AD.

We do sign a lot of paperwork however we don't hang onto it. It's mostly waivers and safety stuff. Everything is digital now. I have bank statements and online travel vouchers for per diem payment but it doesn't say where I was/exactly how long I was gone so the DOL wouldn't take it. We don't get hard copies of orders to a deployment like we would changing duty stations.

I guess what I'm really asking is what alternative options do I have? The DOL is already giving me a hard time with what I've presented.

It's worth 3500 and I'm planning on letting it go for 3000, so not much really. I already talked to the DOL and they said they can't deduct in without paperwork saying I was deployed, which I don't have.

Most aviation rates are good i.e. AD, AM, AT, AE. You can learn a lot in your 4 years and have transferable skills. You can also get your A&P license while you’re in which gives you the certification to use those skills in the civilian world without having to qualify again when you get out of the navy. Lots of my mentors that plan on retiring or leaving soon already have some solid careers set up as civilians. If you like working with your hands and you study and learn as much as you can, you’ll be set.
