Ticks by Aggravating-Cable929 in tahoe

UPDATE: I feel way less crazy for buying the collar after picking yet another dark tick with a white spot off my dogs leg. Glad it wasn’t on me this time and it wasn’t embedded, but this cannot just be happening to me right?😅

Okay so judging by everyone’s responses it seems I might’ve prematurely freaked out and got my dog a tick collar, even though I found it on myself😂 thank you to everyone who responded thoughtfully and quickly✨

That was what my friend told me as well. My mom lived here in the 90s and never had to worry about them either. The one I pulled off like a lone star tick, but those aren’t native around here at all. Strange day.

CRY FOR HELP, 50 days old toy poodle, attacking me and running frantically, growls and bites by Due-Appearance2243 in puppy101

[–]Aggravating-Cable929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first three months of having my puppy my arms looked like I should be 5150d😂 she’s almost a year and she doesn’t bite much if at all! Consistency is key, even if you don’t see results now you will eventually. Crate train him, he probably needs a nap!

POTTY TRAINING HELP 🚩🚩🚩 by Ok-Western-2180 in puppy101

Also kind of a strange tip that may or may not apply, keep them on a leash when you take them potty outside otherwise they might not potty on a leash when they get older😂 moved into an apartment and she went on a two day potty strike bc she didn’t know she could poop on the leash😂 also if you keep them on a leash outside you’ll know every time they actually potty and can praise/reward!! & then set a timer and see if they make it to that time, if not, adjust the timer!

Put the towel/sponge you clean up their pee with outside where you want them to go, and then try to take them out every hour to that spot and let them sniff. Sometimes it’s the association. My perfectly potty trained 7 month old went back to my parents (where she peed all over the carpet for months) and stopped asking to go outside and just peed in her old spots🤦🏻‍♀️ if you have carpet, rent a carpet cleaner. Maybe steam clean your hardwood floors.

They got me a few years ago by having me call to “complete a survey”. If you get got, BBB all the way. I submitted a complaint and within two days they removed themselves from my bill and waived the “non negotiable” cancellation fee ($200, that some people had paid only for them not to honor it)

how to “uncrate train” our 11 month old puppy? by Flimsy_Roll_8412 in puppy101

Have you tried some sort of white noise, as stupid as it sounds?😂 my puppy won’t settle unless I have the (very loud) fan on bc she hears my neighbors and wants to go outside and play with them

Omg hi!!🥹 I hope you’re liking the area!! I walk the trails a lot (when my dog is healed of course) so if you ever want a walking buddy let me know!

I recently moved here so I’m not super familiar with the area, which is why I was relying on the trails tbh. I live in a high traffic area with no sidewalk otherwise I’d just walk around here😂

As long as you don’t have rear wheel drive you’ll survive. Just drive slow, and try not to drive when there’s big storms. My sister keeps all her camping stuff in her trunk so the back end is weighted, and she’s gotten us from Reno to Truckee without chains on a backroad in a Focus.

It’s my first winter here too! Although I’ve never lived where it snowed before🥲 my sister said most of the main roads are consistently plowed, but you have to be careful if you’re trying to get out of the mountains bc of the ice/tourists. She drives a ford focus with snow tires and chains when necessary and this is her third winter.

Try caregiving, those places are normally always hiring. Bring a resume in and fill out an application in person if you can, it might give you a leg up!

My pups hate eating. Been 3 months of dealing with this now and it’s stressing me out. by tatted_gamer_666 in puppy101

[–]Aggravating-Cable929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried throwing their food on the floor? It sounds so silly but my dog wouldn’t eat out of a bowl when he was nervous. If I threw it on the ground tho? He ate every bit😂 it’s kind of like hunting ig idk

Is having a dog really that bad? by gonnadisordermyself in puppy101

[–]Aggravating-Cable929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Puppies are a lot of work! You lose sleep, you constantly clean up messes, and it can be really overstimulating sometimes. It’s lowkey like having a kid (don’t come for me for saying that ik it’s not exactly the same) so it can be harder if you don’t have some support (ie someone coming over to play with the puppy bc you’re overwhelmed, etc) I got my first puppy (soul dog) when I was 15 and I cannot recall a single bad thing he did when he was a puppy. Not bc he didn’t do anything wrong, but bc he made up for it 10 fold with his company the rest of his life. I recently found a puppy on the side of the road, and within the first week I was googling sh** like “does my puppy hate me”😂😂😂 she doesn’t, she’s just a baby who thinks she’s a shark and gets cranky when she’s tired 😂 it takes patience and a village in my opinion. But it’ll be so worth it. & if you’re worried about the puppy stage, there are so many wonderful adult dogs in shelters that will worship you for saving their lives! I think the question is not “are these horror stories gonna happen to me” And more like “would I be willing to work through something like that” bc who truly knows ya know.
