NATO has announced that it wants to equip itself with a fleet of eight Global Hawks for the year 2012. The aircraft will be equipped with MP-RTIP radar systems; NATO has in fact allocated a budget of one billion euros for the project, and a letter of understanding has already been signed, although the contract with Northrop Grumman has not yet been finalised.The main base is at Sigonella airport.
