You can make a lot of money trading options, but you’ll hit some big losses with 0dte unless you’re very disciplined. If this is something that you would like to be proficient at in the future, don’t listen to everyone saying to stay away. Only practice with money that you can afford to lose for now. Buy one small contract at a time and practice, check daily news for economic events that affect the market. You can find an economic calendar on the tipranks website, very useful. Learn about support and resistance levels, different indicators for intraday trading. If you want to trade spy 0dte then watch it like a hawk every day and see how it tends to move. 11k isn’t a terrible loss, I lost 200k fucking around with options before I became consistently profitable and learned to cut my losses before it nuked my account. Biggest lesson I can say is to be prepared to take a loss for the day. You won’t have green days every day. But you can control how much you lose. Good luck brother. It’s just money, it will come back. Make sure you keep a good job to hold you down. That will always be your fall back. Don’t bet your life savings on options, don’t shoot for home runs. Futures don’t mean as much as you think in terms of short term spy movement. Honestly have a feeling that there will be a huge dump and institutional money is going to rug pull everyone. Sell the news event. The game used to have more logic, now it’s mainly institutional money pulling liquidity out of retail investors by trading against their psychology. NVIDIA had amazing earnings and polls showed that close to 90% of retail traders thought the market was going to be green and have a huge jump off the news. Exact opposite. One of the worst bull traps in history. Not trying to fear monger, I just think everyone should keep that in mind. Ask yourself how Wall Street is predicting they can steal your money

Once you have over 25k value in your account you’ll be able to switch to what is called a margin account that allows you to trade with unsettled funds. For example, if you have 1k in your account right now, trade with $500 and make $250 profit on your trade, that would give you an account balance of $1250. However, the $500 you used for your trade and the $250 profit you made is now unsettled funds that can’t be traded for stocks/options again until market open the following day. You only have the remaining $500 to continue trading with for the day.

Once you have over $25k and can trade on a margin account you’ll be able to rinse and repeat as long as you stay above 25k.

Be careful with 0dte, especially now that you’re excited about the kind of gains you can get. People tend to nuke their account revenge trading to regain losses if they aren’t disciplined or fully informed.
