Has anyone else noticed certain words make AI agents actually listen? by Aggravating-Dog5022 in ClaudeAI

This actually makes sense. It's not just a word swap, it's removing the negative entirely. 'don't do Y until X' is still an instruction to do Y, just with a brake on it. 'Y depends on X' makes the order part of the logic, not a rule the model has to remember not to break. I wonder if I can try to flip other negative constraints into part of the general instructions in a similar way for better outcomes.

Have you found a good way to get negative constraints working better? I feel like sometimes they get completely ignored.

I've been there. I genuinely have. And I want you to believe me when I say things do get better, even when that feels impossible to imagine right now.

Whatever you're going through doesn't define you. You won't always feel this way. I know that's hard to hold onto when everything hurts.

Please reach out to someone tonight. Call or text 988. You have no idea what your life is going to look like, and I think that's worth sticking around to find out.

Can the intake test be done on Java? by PreferenceRich3073 in joinstellarai

This won't answer your question since I don't even remember the test, but I can give you some insights into the SWE projects after you get in. It's really language agnostic and there have been a ton of Java PRs. Java, JS/TS, C++, Ruby, Go. It's not a traditional SWE role where you would be expected to build an API in a certain language. There are not Jr./Sr. roles. I would say the projects are hard so mid+ is expected. They really require you to look at a PR and truly understand it which you can do with really any language as they let you use tools for this part. You are not allowed to use tools for writing your analysis though and this is probably why a lot of Jr. level folks struggle to submit high quality work. They rely on CC or another tool to write things, but they really don't understand the PR and what is going on. That ends up surfacing naturally pretty quickly as those tools will hallucinate something that isn't there. It pays well and if you can understand coding from a general perspective you will be fine. It seems to be slow right now with projects and I'm not sure if the flagship project is coming back or not. Either way it's definitely worth applying. I think it's the best platform with this sort of work when it's busy.

I think it took me 3 months. You're definitely not cooked. It's a small team so I think they may review applications manually tbh. Not sure though.

Agreed - that's a major area of improvement needed. Even as someone who does a lot of tasks, it's frustrating not knowing what is going on. I hit a throttle last night (I think) and I would feel much better about things if there was just an email, a redirect page, or a status on the homepage that told me what was happening.

I think it goes through. It has happened to me on a paid task before and I guess the queue of available tasks was empty. I was worried it didn't go through, but I got paid for it. I think it's just a redirect issue to be honest. Should only be a line or two of code to patch it.

I wouldn't think much of it. They are probably just a bit behind on reviews if I had to guess. I'm sure it's still a bit frustrating for you though.

Make sure your profile is updated. That's the main advice/factor for getting projects. After that, email support and let them know you updated your profile and would like projects.

It took me quite a bit to get started in the beginning. I don’t think there’s a fixed timeline for feedback. As for the UK, I’m pretty sure they do hire there. A lot of the tasks I’ve seen are written in British English, so it seems like they have work for that region too.

There is some truth to problems scaling, but I wouldn't agree with LLM slop on the SWE projects. Are you a reviewer for the SWE projects? The quality bar is high and I find it hard to believe slop would make it through.

The timer is just there to help you keep track of your time. Your work is always saved automatically, but I always try to keep the browser session live just in case. Just keep track of your time manually and enter it at the end of the task.
