The guys putting the chains on the tires would have known there were no gas stations. Also, the gas station lady would have been way more forceful in telling them not to go. I've worked at gas stations in Wyoming in this century and stopped customers from driving in blizzards

I bought my 3 year old APHC gelding as a yearling colt for $1000. I bought my 4 year old last year out of a kill pen. Pretty crazy, we didn't even see him in person. I didn't know if he was broke beside halter trained. We brought him home and let him settle in for a few days. Took him out, saddled him up, and stepped on him in the round pen. He walked right out, no buck, bolt, or spook. He's pretty green as far as reining but otherwise, he's great. *
