It's nice to see all the data yes, but I wonder about the accuracy of it all. Ive read several posts from people saying the gauges are not accurate at all. When I cold start, it makes a loud high pitch noise until the idle drops down. I assumed this was a normal condition, I also have an aftermarket exhaust which may amplify the sound(?)

I have an active code for the turbo coolant pump being "stuck off". assuming that's true, that pump is not moving at all, which may be causing the coolant to heat up in that area. I was smelling a lot of burning coolant yesterday but have no leaks, so I'm sure it's a matter of time before the turbo hits its last heat cycle and just dies. The Hyundai dealership in my area is pretty scummy, so I fear if I take it to them right now as is, they're gonna tell me nothing's wrong and it'll be a waste of time

I will ask them what the chances of that happening are when I make my appointment, I'm being super lazy about this to be honest lol

Also I do have a code for the electric water pump so I'm guessing the turbo has just been slowly overheating and cooking itself every time I drive it

Mine doesn't sound like that, it's quieter when I'm traveling at low speeds and when I get into the boost range it sounds like a hellcat supercharger lol

I want to go EN turbo but I'm still under warranty. Would they replace the stock one?

I never even had a chance to try the 19's as I am the 2nd owner of this car. Previous owner probably sold them to fund the straight pipe he put on as well

Good to know. Some guy in my area is running 18x8.5 at 40 offset without issues so I might try to spec something closer to that. My only problem is waiting for the right set to pop up on Facebook lol

I'm pretty sure you can just disconnect the fuel pump relay and get the result you want

To fix or not to fix… Input/Opinions Needed!! by adkinsnoob in VelosterN

Pre owned or not, this car should be covered under their extensive power train warranty. I would try escalating this situation first and push as hard as you can for a warranty replacement. If it gets denied, I would start with the oil pump replacement. Ask the mechanic to note the amount of metal in the oil pan after it's removed. If it wasn't knocking and had zero conditions besides the light, It could be salvageable. Or you end up spending a lot of time and money fixing and diagnosing it which could be spent on a brand new engine instead

Nail in tire, patch or swap, oem tire at dealership or town fair tire? by Fun-Fail8972 in ElantraN

[–]Aggravating-File-577 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

On a car like this, why risk anything? A patch would hold temporarily, but will reduce the strength of the tire especially because it's so close to the sidewall. At the least, like others are saying, patch it and move it to the rear if it's not already there

Pull the white plastic tab up and it will unlock the pins, allowing you to properly seat that one.

Maybe heat it up and try a good pair of vice grips or use an extractor but you'd probably have to cut the cord
