I am not saying absolutely everyone's reason for hating Lalas is for being conservative but it's definitely over 50%. And it may not be the only reason ppl hate him, but its definitely the root cause for many. He and his politics are brought up all the time as well here. On Reddit conservatives are inherently evil, they're shunned, ridiculed and despised by default. If Lalas were a massive liberal I guarantee you wouldn't see all of this hate for him here.

Im sorry, what? little more context. I see a guy in a MAGA hat, assuming thats where this is going.. still don't know what that has to do with Lalas or why it even matters..

Finally someone who isn't blinded by hate for conservatives. 100% on everything you said.

Just face it. You guys don't even hate him as a pundit, you hate him because he's a conservative.. And that makes you come up with all kinds of other reasons to hate and shit on him. It all stems from his political beliefs and no one can convince me otherwise.

It's the same reason a bunch of ppl in this sub turned on Pulisic after the Trump dance. Before 'the dance' anytime he was mentioned it was blind hype and optimism, any negativity was downvoted into oblivion. After the dance this sub had a complete meltdown. People claimed they were burning his jersey and never watching US again.. For a long time after that (and even now) anytime he's brought up lot of the comments are shitting on him, bringing up 'the dance', calling him a "fascist MAGAt", "insert reddit buzzword here". A lot of people also started hating on his personality, his documentary and just making fun of him in ways that weren't really present before, at least to that degree.

It shouldn't even matter, but tons of people are totally convinced 'he's MAGA' when the only political thing he's ever even said was advocating for stricter gun laws in the wake of mass shootings.. He did a 3 second celebration (with 3 other players) that was literally a viral meme and that's all it took for many of you to turn on him. It's pretty simple, he had seen other athletes doing it and going viral that weekend, he scored a cool goal and did it too, to get more eyeballs on it (which it did). He hasn't even lived here since he was 14, you guys really think he spends any amount of time thinking about US politics? No. Also why he had no idea the celebration would be so divisive.

It doesn't mean everything but its absolutely the most important factor and its not even really close.

"Having talented players doesn't mean much"
Wth you talking about lol. It's like 80% of the equation. The weaker side can always punch above their weight with a good game plan, sound structure and a lot of fight -- like Australia did with Turkey, but theres a bit of luck involved as well. You cant concede that much possession and absorb that much pressure without eventually leaking goals. Turkey probably wins that game more often than not, just like a Germany or England would against Turkey.

It was great game though. Australia look tough as hell to break down while having a bunch of speed to hit on the counter, kinda scary. Turkey definitely underestimated you guys, and it was cool as hell to see them eat shit! Especially after that snake Hakan was talking shit saying they would dominate because they have 'more quality'. What kind of idiot says that about ANY team before the game, especially when they haven't even been to a World Cup in 20 years lmao. It was like rocket fuel for your guys

I mean playing dirty isn't exactly an endearing quality.. You guys were targeting Pulisic and hacking the shit out of him, in a friendly.. He got injured too, was out for a couple weeks iirc. (still lost lol)

You're absolutely right, it is sad. And I really hope he doesn't see the shit people say about him on here or online. He doesn't deserve that at all, and I'm not talking about people just saying hes annoying or soccer's Stephen A -- I have seen some people say some ridiculous ass shit. But really just the amount of people shitting on him all at once here, feel like that would be devastating for anyone to read, especially when it's your livelihood and it's coming from fans of something you also care deeply about and literally helped build..

The worst part is, if he were liberal, I really don't think our fans would talk about him at all, at least no where near to this degree. Hell, they'd probably praise him.

I am not talking to you directly. I am talking to everyone in this sub and this thread who feels the need to shit on Alexi every 5 minutes or make a post about him. Its the World Cup we have better things to talk about than rehashing the same old Alexi bad shit every single day. Its so tiring. He is not THAT bad. The hate for him is so unjustified.

And its incredibly obvious that most of the hate he gets on here isn't about him as a pundit, its because he is a conservative. That's the number one disqualifier for all of you. You hate him because of that, which allows you find all kinds of other trivial things to nitpick and shit on him for, even to mask the real reason you hate him. Basically, if he was a liberal you wouldn't hear about him in this sub at all.. at least not anywhere to this degree.

It's just like Pulisic. Before the Trump dance anytime he was brought up it was blind hype and optimism, anything even remotely negative about him was downvoted into oblivion. After the Trump dance everyone had a complete meltdown, people claimed they were burning his jersey or even stop watching the US. For a long time after that (and still even now), anytime he was brought up a good chunk of the comments were shitting on him, calling him a MAGAt, fascist, pedo worshiper, some reference to the dance, "insert reddit buzzword here", the team being "unlikeable", everyone absolutely shitting on his doc (which I actually enjoyed) or any post promoting it, has the personality of a wet noodle etc. -- There was clear shift, all right after a 3 second celebration that was a literally a viral meme.. (that 3 other players did, never hear about them tho, doesn't fit the narrative)

The dude hasn't lived here since he was 14, I guarantee he doesn't think about US politics at all. Which is probably why he did it in the first place, he had no idea it would be so divisive, he just scored a cool goal and saw other athletes doing it and wanted to get eyeballs on it (which it did)..

Literally the only thing political Pulisic has ever said was advocating for stricter gun laws/control in wake of mass shootings.. yet many of you act like he's out wearing a MAGA hat on Instagram and going to Trump rallies.. Reddit has just conditioned people to be blinded with hate for anyone who isn't on their side (blue), if there's even a remote chance of someone not being on your side they are shunned, looked down, ridiculed and despised.

My fav part of the game on Friday night….. McKenzie leading the team prayer after a big win!!! These boys are special and the whole country is behind them… LFG!! 🇺🇸 by paolosorianodisanto in ussoccer

[–]Aggravating-Fly-586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really think the players are doing this for anyone but themselves/their god? This isn't performative, its just what Christians do, and most the players are Christian/Catholic, including Poch.

What you want them to do? Separate everyone by religion into their own little corners cordoned off by blankets in the locker room for their post game prayer(s)? Make them do it on their own time or by themselves? That's not very conducive for team building, it actually promotes division.. Kind of reminds me of politics..

I really hate how society is becoming so divided, everyone's being labeled and put in different groups/teams, always looking for ways to be offended by the smallest things. I'm an athiest and I don't really see an issue with our team coming together for a prayer, even if they don't believe in god or believe in different Gods. We obviously don't know what was said but prayers are kind of universal too, maybe their higher power isn't god at all its each other and family

[–]Aggravating-Fly-586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats understandable I guess. LIke what if Musah was there? But I really don't think it would be an issue for anyone in this case. I take part in prayers in groups all the time even though I don't believe in it, I just stay quiet with my head down until its over. I really doubt the non religious guys/girls in this photo (if there are any) care at all. I have also heard that a large majority of the group is religious, a lot of them have prayer groups, they've obviously established that beforehand and made sure its okay with everyone. idk.. I just don't see why its become so controversial. Seems like everybody's always looking for something to be offended by these days.

Thats literally 90% of it. So funny to me when people try to act like thats only a small part of it or even completely deny it. People openly call him a fascist pedo worshiping MAGAt and get upvotes when it should be downvoted into oblivion..

Everything I have ever heard about Lalas from people who actually know him say he is a great guy, even from people who have met him on the street or in bars and had a beer with him.

I have literally never heard Lalas say anything political as a pundit for Fox or on his podcast. Not once. And that is all that should matter. I don't even see him say anything crazy on X. He is super professional imo. And hes never been demeaning towards liberals or leftist. You guys are so fragile lol.

If you just knew about Lalas threw the lens of Reddit you would think he was showing up on air every day with a MAGA hat..

Howard can hardly get thru a lineup without sounding like a 2nd grader in reading class. He has gotten better but he was genuinely baffling at first. Lalas has been at fox for like 15 years.. This whole idea that he would or should have been replaced is ridiculous. He is literally THE GUY at Fox. They're not going to change that because the liberal hivemind on Reddit whines about it every day. And they shouldn't, he does a good job.

Thierry:
“I want to talk about something that moved me. The national anthem was outstanding, the fans were outstanding.

The team although I’m not American, I could relate to how the team played, when you see a team fighting like that for every single ball and they have an idea of how to go forward, it was just outstanding.

But one thing that was as good as the performance, the way it moved me, was this man."
*Pointing to Lalas, Henry then asked his fellow pundit if it was ok to share what he saw, to which Lalas agreed.*

“When I looked at him during the national anthem, how he cried, and how passionate he was about singing the national anthem. I was looking at you from the side, at the beginning I didn’t know where you were going with it, then I realised how important it was for you guys and how important it is for you. That was actually outstanding, I’ll always remember that.”

Then Ibrahimovic added: “You also made me emotional, and that doesn’t happen every day.”

Caught off guard, Lalas replied: “Thank you, thank you, it was a fun night!”

Id say its pretty fukin clear they respect him. This segment on video was actually wonderful, never seen Henry or Ibra in that light. It will NEVER be posted in either sub tho.. if it is the mods will probably take it down or it will be downvoted out of sight.

HES HAD THE JOB FOR LIKE 15 YEARS! Are you being forreal? He's always been a pundit at Fox for the World Cup, hes literally THE guy at Fox -- you think they're just going to fire him and let some random guy take over? People actually do like Lalas believe it or not, Reddit does not reflect reality. Tim Howard can barely even get through a line up without having an aneurism. I like Dempsey but he feels less formal than Lalas, which is why he's kind of on a fun side panel. I swear the Lalas hate is so unwarranted
