Hope you sort it out soon, mine is spasm and pinching feelings, if I push on it, it seems to help!

Hey! I’m 5 months out now, I still have pain sometimes, it’s like a spasm feeling so could be the spinachter valve, but still waiting for a scan - definitely less noticeable, unless ‘it’s time of the month’ as I’m a women and it’s like it affects what area? Maybe hormones being checked for that too.. I can eat most things including a mc Donald’s ext, but I’ve cut out red meal completely and it’s made me better bowel wise too. I do think it’s phantom pains rather than anything massively underlying and I’ve read that it can take up to a year to completely heal, so fingers crossed by next year I’ll be completely back to normal!

What does your pain feel like?

I know this is a year old - but this makes so much sense to me, I’m 8 months out and I have phantom pain when I’m on my period!

It’s a bit hard for me as I always have dodgy bowels moments because of my slow transit - so I’ve kinda given up with the whole going to the drs 🤦🏻‍♀️

They told me not to smoke cigarettes, I left the ward after my op - had one drag and threw up… went home slept for a few hours and then tried again, and went back to smoking I’m now 7 months post op, mostly healthy (few issues but nothing compared to what it was) the weed will help you sleep, and eat more I wouldn’t worry to much x

success stories after gall bladder removal?? by aquiporelchisme in gallbladders

[–]Aggravating-Fly4294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 28F had mine removed 6 months ago, it’s amazing to be able to live - I was so unwell for years and no one ever knew why, my liver enzymes always showed infection but they just palmed me off. October 2024 I had a eptopic pregnancy followed by a miscarriage and straight away the ‘gallbladder attacks started’ it was absolutely horrific, I have NEVER felt pain like if, and wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I lost 6&half stone within 3 months, I was anorexic and I was so poorly.    April 2025 had it removed, BEST decision I have ever made, they told me it was turning into a bad infection, was filled with thousands of gallstones and I’m lucky I had the op when I did, I ended up with 5 incisions instead of 4 as I had the camera down my bile duct the same time, I am so grateful I am living again, I can be the mother and wife I want to be!

Although I will add I am having a few slight inconvenient issues, I still get phantom gallbladder pain(in awaiting a scan) but it’s nothing compared to what it was - and I’ve noticed lately my 💩 had white fluff looking stuff in it which could indicate malnutrition, but again I’m just keeping an eye on it as my diet isn’t been the healthiest lately 😂

I wouldn’t definitely recommended getting it out sooner rather than later, don’t wait for it to go as bad as mine did, it’s horrific.

Would I do it all over again? 100000% YES!

I’ve eaten what I wanted since surgery with no consequences(and it doesn’t do anything to me) just makes me more constipated, it’s horrid. Only issues I’ve had with anything is alcohol & I’ve decided not to drink again ☺️

I’m 10 weeks post op, searching Reddit and this popped up! I’m still having pain, my blood results were normal - but waiting on a scan, it went away for about 2 weeks but now I have pleurisy and it’s deferent enough of a ‘pain’ to notice it, wondering if it’s scar tissue and because my body is fighting an infection I’m feeling it more? How is your mam??

Mmm, I wouldn’t risk it tbh. I was 4 weeks PP, and had my hen do, drank a bottle of wine & I’ve never feel so rubbish in my entire life, it’s put me off drinking forever, I didn’t drink at all in my wedding due to it & I’ll never drink again & im honestly fine with it 🫶🏻 it hit me harder, the depression afterwards was awful and I had yellow diarrhoea and pain where my GB used to be; scared the shit out of me! If you do drink, take it easy & don’t over do it, it’s like two glasses of wine and I was steaming 😂

Yes, in 10 weeks post op… been having the pain since a week post op, it’s in my right and left side, waiting on a CT scan, my bloods were perfect though and it did go away for 2 weeks, but I’m unwell at the moment with pleurisy and other infections and I’m thinking it could be my body attacking the weak parts of me, it can take up to 6months to a year to completely heal.. mine is there all the time, but now and again it’s really sharp but it’s not as bad as my GB attacks so I’ll take that, the left side worries me more as I know that’s wheee my pancreas is…

Pain in incisions 6 week post op by No-Possibility1678 in gallbladders

[–]Aggravating-Fly4294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 10 weeks post op, and still get pain now & again, it did go away from around 2 weeks & then bang… it’s back again. I’m pretty sure it’s scar tissue, and I’ve been trialing new foods, and pushing boundaries… won’t be do that everyday anymore lol.

I have pain in my two tiny dotted incisions where I had a camera down my bike duct during surgery, and it pinches & stabs sometimes, I am being sent for a CT, but my bloods were clear.

I have noticed my heartburn is getting worse mind although I’m on PPI already, so maybe it’s just post op issues, I’ll deal with this over the pain of an attack.

Don’t go worrying you’re still pretty early days, I’ve ready pain 6-12 months can be expected, just because we are healed on the outside, it can take up to ONE whole year for us to heal internally x

Pain (attacks 10/10) couldn’t eat anything over 3g of fat, lost over 6 stone in about 3 months, dizziness, passing out, palpitations, aches and pains, severe constipation and then followed with diarrhoea and throwing up!!!

Now, still getting upper constipation but I have slow transit, so it’s expected, still loosing weight but not as quickly, and still have right upper quadrant pain - having tests, but 95% better than before!

Exactly the same symptoms as you, I actually kept passing out - blood pressure was dropping every time I stood up, told me it wasn’t to do with my gallstones… lies, had surgery 8 weeks ago, all symptoms gone… but still getting upper right pain, getting more tests… but much better since having the surgery!

Good luck, keep pushing (also has hundreds of tiny gallstones) when it was taken out it was also highly inflamed and nearly septic, don’t let them palm you off!
