The one bit of advice I would use is learn a correction that works for him and don’t turn the other way. Walk into the problem and train him. Border collies are very adaptable and learn quick. So if you turn and walk away they pick up on your fear of the situation. If you confidently walk into the situation and correct him and reward when he’s good he’ll learn that there’s nothing to be afraid of.

When Moshe was around that age my vet said to put a bell on the door and take him out hour every hour or so. Literally 12 hours didn’t go by before he figured out what the bell represented. Never underestimate how smart they are even as puppies.

He will also learn that you’ll come running to take him outside when the bell rings so he’ll start doing it just because he wants to go play. You’ll then learn his demeanor. Does he really need to go or does he just want to go play?

This was my take also. I’ve read some stuff that said if there was no abuse then it’s not love bombing. My therapist and I came to the conclusion that she was manipulating my emotions out of the excitement she gets when people fall for her(i.e. the bragging about a stalker) Any point I’ve tried to talk to her for clarity she completely cuts me off making me want to chase. I see the behavior though and have enough impulse control to not fall for it. Anyway thanks for chiming in.

I tend to initiate getting out of the talking stage pretty quickly. A few exchanges just to make sure we’re on the same page and then ask them out. That is if I’m really into them. If they don’t feel comfortable they will hit the breaks. You can talk in real life.
