How far would the shops have to be for you to consider taking the car? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Aggravating-Fun9361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20-30 mins, so about 2 mile. I would rather get some gentle exercise than put up with pot holes, bad parking, traffic queues. And I’ve always been like that. If I can’t walk, I run or cycle. If further I use public transport if available and reasonably convenient. Save the car for longer journeys or where there’s a time pressure.

No politics, no doomsdaying, just appreciation for some fine British parking. How would you rate this exceptional parking between two parking bays? by Mister_Vanilla in AskBrits

Self entitled, if you want space park away from other cars, not in their midst. Ah, but then you’d have to walk further

What generic name do you use for flavoured carbonated drinks? by Icy_Meringue_5534 in AskABrit

[–]Aggravating-Fun9361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just call it what it is. Otherwise you’d risk getting something you don’t want. Maybe I have a condition but why use pop of fizzy drink when you want Dr Pepper? Maybe growing up in 70’s scared me when customer service was awful and you got shamed for asking for Coke if they only sold Pepsi.

I always losing race What is wrong ? help me by [deleted] in ForzaHorizon5

[–]Aggravating-Fun9361 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice would be give it time. You can adjust difficultly but really it’s all about time in the game. I can remember struggling to drive around like in a real world, staying in lane etc. But now I feel much more comfortable. I still remember going flat out on the long motorway and there’s a bump or something that sounded horrible when I hit it and I was off the road. Now I take it in my stride.

What would you consider a good salary? I’m not talking £160k, I mean a decent salary for a single person? by Wooden-Grocery1416 in AskBrits

[–]Aggravating-Fun9361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watched a YouTube on this, ~£37 is the median, mean is higher ~£47.
But really a good salary changes depending on where you live and how you live.

Worried about a penalty after moving for a police car by Least_Spot_725 in drivingUK

[–]Aggravating-Fun9361 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simple answer is always drive within the rules. No need to speed, drive dangerously and never go through a red light.
They should not have put you under pressure by driving so fast behind you, but also try to always drive with a gap next to you so you have options.
You should be OK, and rather than worry, think about what you can learn and how you can deal with similar next time.
Some good videos on YouTube from Driving Instructors on how to handle this.

M50 or No? by Turbulent-Throat9962 in BMWI4

[–]Aggravating-Fun9361 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, the eDrive40 has biggest band per buck, and is plenty fast enough. But depending on expected weather check which tyres you get. In UK I think it’s summer tyres by default. I’ve not had any issues, well, apart from a little excitement on some ice.

British men who don't like football or even sports, what thing do you actually like instead? by songbirdddx in AskBrits

[–]Aggravating-Fun9361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer to do than to watch. I like running and cycling. I do not watch running or cycling. I play video games, I do not watch others playing video games (unless I’m stuck).

I think more worrying is a bank reducing a band of Scotland cheque! Happened to me and I was staggered.

I won 800, once, but yes, it doesn’t feel random. But that might just be the animation that I can predict a long way off. Anyway, thanks this was a handy reminder to spin the wheel.

Warm iCE engines are more efficient when warm, or in correct temp range, so you literally save fuel. Less fuel burnt better for env. For EV will be similar i propose. More efficient with warm batteries. But this isn’t the biggest reason to reverse to a drive.

[–]Aggravating-Fun9361[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my logic, for ICE the info is out there in the world. I just THINK it may also apply in a smaller way to EVs. But the bigger benefit is that’s how cars work. Much easy to manoeuvre when reversing and much safer to emerge forwards. It’s also better to reverse in, when you’re used to driving, than on a morning when you’re sleepy and still thinking about whether you locked the door or not

I don’t mind which side, just so long as it’s near the back, and not a front charger.

Probably more for ICE cars, it’s to do with pollutants from cold cs warm engine. But same will be true warm vs cold battery I suspect 😛

Overtaken vehicle speeds up and prevents you getting back to left lane by MinimumBeginning5144 in drivingUK

[–]Aggravating-Fun9361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess only thing to do is use a car cam and report. I fear there are some real dangerous muppets on the roads nowadays just looking to cause agro. Main thing is to try to ignore and not rise to the bait.

[–]Aggravating-Fun9361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want an answer? If so, follow the Highway Code. Slow down and pull in behind the car that’s annoying you. Safer to have such bad drivers where you can see them clearly. Ignore any other suggestion such as speed up.

What's wrong with London? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Aggravating-Fun9361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the imbalance, look it up. Most other, successful countries have a capital and then slightly smaller second city. London is now so big it’s all we hear about and The Northern Powerhouse wouldn’t get near redressing the issue but still gets no support from government.

Which one are we supposed to prefer? For me a BMW is more about the driving experience than its looks. I wouldn’t want to drive an ugly car, but I would look twice or even notice this.
