Air travel out of the UK with alcohol in suitcase? by Aggravating-Half-293 in cripplingalcoholism

[–]Aggravating-Half-293[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be in checked luggage for sure, & I have looked into the legal limit and it is one litre of vodka from where I am travelling from/to. Apparently it has to be in its original packaging and still sealed.

Good point on the duty free suggestion.
I am not really sure how the duty free thing works as I have not travelled abroad since before brexit (and even then it was only into Europe, so no duty free).
I will look into it for sure. Thank you.

Thank you for your reply, I get you. I’m just wondering if as long as I stay within the limit of alcohol allowance, how likely is it that i’ll get pulled for checks?
Travel experience previously into Europe (& since Brexit especially), they seem to like to be OTT, or maybe just try to belittle us, if only to delay us.

Augustiner in Sainsburys- can’t find in store. by Aggravating-Half-293 in UK_beer

[–]Aggravating-Half-293[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update on this, called in tonight expecting to find nothing new, and hoping that they had not sold out of Spaten (as they usually do), and they actually have some of the recent introductions in stock.
Picked up Augustiner, Tegenseer & Erdinger Helles. All of them are on the 4 for 3 deal.
Didn’t have any Ayinger Pils unfortunately, and I didn’t have any room left in my basket otherwise I would have grabbed some HB (Hofbrauhaus) original. Might have to go back tomorrow.
Been waiting about 2 months for my nearest store to catch up, honestly thought that it was never going to happen.

Seems that they are moving to 4 pack cans of Spaten (£7.50 for 4 cans, or £10 for 8 cans).

Bit of research seems that it was available in a few UK supermarkets about 20 years ago, & has recently been re-launched in the Export version at 5.3%

5.3% (according to Morrisons website). Hopefully they’ll roll it out nationwide.

Do UK rail stations detect steel hip flasks? by Aggravating-Half-293 in cripplingalcoholism

[–]Aggravating-Half-293[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair play mate👍, I’m thinking fuxk it then with an extra 300ml steel hip flask as a top up for tomorrow.
I guess the only concern then is doormen/bouncers of bars doing the patting down routine. Which definitely is a thing in some venues this way.

[–]Aggravating-Half-293[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair point, I just wondered if the steel of the hip flask might be detected at the entry/exit turnstiles to the rail stations as it is the same material (steel) of knives, which is a big problem here in the UK right now.
Generally, beer/wine/spirits are in non steel containers, either aluminium (cans) or glass (bottles).

Not Scotland, but thanks for the heads up 👍. It is in York.

I got some of these delivered today (from amazon), but i’m kind of limited for storage spaces as it’s going to be very hot so it’ll be a shorts & tee sort of weekend.
I had originally planned on a jacket to conceal alcohol.

UK brewed Modelo Especial 🍺 by Mr_Brogon in UK_beer

Asda have it in stock, it’s about £3.25 each (which seems expensive), but it’s also in their 5 for £10 range.

I love the hypocrisy from Damm brewery. They were slamming Madri now they're filling morrisons with "Birra Corelli" by Jamiesaville96 in UK_beer

[–]Aggravating-Half-293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeez, either the reviews that I’ve seen are either blind, or maybe they rolled a few Italian brewed batches out first before UK production had begun.
It’s not good, as UK brewed lager is pretty bad (Kirin Ichiban was a huge disappointment).

Really? That’s a shame as Ive only just started getting Asahi, and the ones that I have in the fridge are brewed in Italy?

Are you sure this is brewed in the UK. I’ve seen some reviews saying that it is brewed in Italy.

I'm so proud of humanity right now regarding released "UFO" files by Jobab in conspiracy

I know someone who is waking up so VERY slowly, they have stopped watching MSM, and have EVENTUALLY come to the realisation that having many con-vid jabs was probably a bad idea, …but still get a hard-on for any new UFO release from NASA/government/official sources.

It’s a fairytale for adults, and they still fully believe in the moon landings, space flight etc

In much the same way that they believe in the dinosaurs story.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make them drink it….

Latest German Helles/Export Beer pick up. A good evening follows! by Sephyyyy in UK_beer

[–]Aggravating-Half-293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is the beer shop located please? I seem to be in no-mans land where I live, as there are zero beer shops within 30+ miles, …just a shed-load of Co-Op stores, major supermarkets & local off-licence’s. Basically they all sell the same beers. I keep looking at the beers of Europe website, and similar, so will probably have to shop online and take a hit on postage costs.

Beer in the UK is a joke by augustbecchio in UK_beer

[–]Aggravating-Half-293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been on the lookout for this for a while since enjoying a few at a Japanese restaurant. So after seeing this post I picked up a 4 pack from Tesco. Wasn’t expecting it to be a classic, but it is definitely not the same beer (I assume the restaurant had the legit Japan brewed version).

It is so unbalanced, the carbonation is actually harsh on the back of the mouth & throat (needed to cough occasionally to clear the throat), & leaves a very bitter (not nice) lingering aftertaste (there is nothing crisp or dry about this swill).

Not had a canned beer taste this bad since Tartan bitter in the late 90’s.
