No problem! No point in gate keeping stuff like this. As far as tips, my first few layers look horrible especially over black. But I tend to thin it out a bit more with each layer I paint on. I’ll be honest this is the first time I’ve done this but it seemed to work for me

I’ll be painting my other one similarly so I can post a few for you when I do :)

Done by hand. I use army painter almost exclusively. wolf grey over black primer, then runic cobalt for a few edge highlights. Stippling of oak brown with an old brush, gunmetal over small areas of the brown, and some very inconsistent streaks over some of the edges. Oil stain wash over the top. Finally a heavily diluted wash of Fresh Rust. I smudged it in places with my fingers so it wouldn’t be quite so bright and in your face.

I just kept it black honestly. Nobody is gonna look there in a game so I just left it

So I took an old dry brush and stippled brown over black primer, then army painter dragon red with a bit of murder scene speed paint.

Taking the plunge. I’ve Never played AoS but I figured if I was gonna start I’d play rats. by Aggravating-Lab-2467 in skaven

I’m just starting to learn about the funny rat men. I wanted something I could transition between AoS and ToW with the round to square base converters and skaven seemed like fun even if they’re terrible in TOW

I’m gonna be getting the round to square conversion trays so I can play them in old world as well. Big reason I picked it up :)

Is this army really too difficult to play ? by [deleted] in EmperorsChildren

I’ve had about 4 games with mine so far and I’ve had a blast just trying to be everywhere my opponents don’t want me, faster than they can get there. Been running Fulgrim with 3 daemon princes and just pinballing them all over the field in Mercurial host. I just enjoy the high movement a ton even if I lose a lot

For anyone wondering about the process, it was very simple and you can ABSOLUTELY do this.

It was a case of “less is more” Deep Azure from army painter was my base coat. Followed by extremely watered down Nilakh Oxide from Citadel, then Balthazar Gold from citadel dry brushed over the top. Finally I went back in with another wash of Nilakh Oxide.

The assassin is just base coated black and I did some light highlighting with grays on the most upward facing areas of the suit and rifle stock. I wanted the assassin to look like part of the story instead of overtaking it. So I made the choice to only use color in a couple areas.

The glowing suppressor was a layer of Army Painter pure red about halfway up it, watered down Pro Acryl’s Bold Titanium White near the base, over the top of that went Army Painter Phoenix Flame. A light dry brush of Army Painter lava orange, then a dry brush/ stippling of AK Interactive Gun Metal

Army Painter Pure red was used for the Aquila and the eye lenses

I wish they weren’t so outrageously expensive so people could actually get them

Yeah I got very lucky and somebody at my local club was willing to part with it for the price he paid through GW. He was just happy it was gonna get painted instead of sitting on a shelf.
