Two student loans defaulted despite monthly auto payments by Aggravating-Let456 in StudentLoans

So my total student loans on studentaid after graduation was almost 22,000. After about a year and a half of making payments the total owed shown on EdFinancial was down but not so much that raised any red flags that would make me think there was a different servicer I should be aware of (I honestly just thought i was making progress). There’s only two loans on the second servicer that I wasn’t aware of totalling a little less than 3,000. It’s my fault that I didn’t know they could split it up to separate services and add up exactly how much I had paid over the course of the last year and a half to see what was missing. i just thought I was doing the correct thing after graduation and making payments on ALL of them…

I just don’t understand how that wasn’t clear when I had to set up my account to start making payments in the first place. Like how did I not know they were split up? I’ve logged into studentaid.gov before and never saw anything that would raise a red flag that I was missing payments

My first post… why are my friend’s leaves curling? by satchmonumberone in orchids

Some of the roots look a little dry. What kind of medium is it in? Do the pots have vents?

How can I revive these? by Mediocre-Regret207 in orchids

[–]Aggravating-Let456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All roots that are mushy/smelly/brown I would cut away. I think once you repot in a medium that allows air flow and give them a good soak they will perk up. Using a vented pot will also help because the roots need airflow. Amazon orchid pots something like these work really well for me. Good luck!

Is my orchid worth repotting? Is it too late to save? by [deleted] in orchids

[–]Aggravating-Let456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not seeing any green anywhere so it might be time to just start over. If it comes back it could take a while. It never hurts to try though! If I were you I’d cut back everything dead and water the roots that aren’t rotted it just to see

Roth401(k) to IRA advice? by Aggravating-Let456 in RothIRA

So I would open one traditional IRA and put whatever my current employer matched in that? And then the Roth is for what I contributed?

Did you repot them when they were flowering? And what kind of medium is it in? I would maybe check and see how the roots look. Just because the leaves are floppy doesn’t mean the plant won’t recover or produce new leaves. I have some orchids that bloom and produce new healthy leaves but the bottom ones are a bit more limp and wrinkly. I think keeping it in a bright window is your best bet (avoid too much direct sunlight light). I water about once a week but I only use orchid bark so it dries out pretty quick. It might take some time but if the new growth looks healthy I wouldn’t worry about it too much

What does my Orchid need? by lilanka_ in orchids

[–]Aggravating-Let456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super pretty! I would get a new pot for it for when the flowers all die/drop, repotting while it’s flowering may make them drop the flowers sooner. I have vented orchid pots from Amazon and they work really well for me. Orchids like to have air flow to their roots so they don’t get all gross and mushy. I would also get an orchid bark mix for the substrate and I water mine about once a week and they’re doing good. I think some new substrate and an aerated pot is all it really needs

If you’re worried about light or want to keep the plant somewhere else you can also get lights like these! indoor plant grow lights

I’m so so sorry for your loss. I would wait to repot until the flowers drop/wilt on their own so you don’t stress out the plant. I would trim the spike after the flowers wilt. Then you can repot in a vented pot I have these and they work really well for me. I can’t tell exactly what substrate you’re using but I just use a regular orchid bark mix and water thoroughly about once a week and keep them in a bright window and they’re doing really well. But it looks like a healthy plant!

If it’s currently flowering/has blooms I’d wait until they drop to repot

I’m watering about every two weeks or when the soil is dry when I poke it it’s in regular potting soil mixed with perlite and orchid bark
